Well I can't answer the first part of your question but I know the reasons for the second. Firsty by asking you to complete a survey the site usually makes a little money which goes towards the running of the site. Secondly if the survey is specific about movies it more often or not is the case that the site owner wants to know what the public like and don't like so that they can tailor their site to be more in line with what people want.

i always use surfthechannel.com for searching for films, and then usually the links they have on there are really good to use.
