So i work at applebees and have for 3 1/2 years ... i know a long time right lol. well i just want to know what you think is a good tip when you go out to eat. What if your bill came to $50 how much would you leave the waitress for a tip. considering your dining experience was a good one?

I'm probably going to sound like a real cheap-skate right but I don't ever give tips. I just say I haven't got any cash left and that's that. Why should I give extra money when these expensive restaurants are already ripping me off? Even if the service is good, I payed for the service already and would like to keep anything else I have for myself thanks lol

but see your not paying for the service you are only paying for the meal because i only make 2.65 and hour plus tips if you dont leave me a tip i am not even making minimum wage. The way i look at it dont go out to eat if you cant afford to tip the waitress

I would consider my husband and I both to be good tippers. We definitely tip based on how well the waiter or waitress did. If there was a problem with the food or something along those lines it's typically not the waiter or waitress' fault, so we only tip based on THEIR service! We always tip between 15% and 20% just depending on the restaurant and what we eat. If we went into Applebeees and had a nice dinner out, my husband and I would most likely tip right around $10.
I spent some time waitressing back in college, so I UNDERSTAND tips. LOL

yeah i def appreciate at least 15% min . . . i had this one table of 8 people one morning told my manager that i was the best waitress they have ever had at any applebees and their bill was like 100$ and only tipped me 10$ i was so upset . . i gave them great service so they claimed but proceded to only leave me 10% . . . i guess some people dont understand we are trying to pay our bills and we work really hard for the money we earn

In my country 10% is considered a good tip. I usually start there and then round up the sum to the upper zeros.
In the case you mention, in my country, I would leave $5 more. I´d probably even leave $6 if if was a very good dining experience and NONE if I had a bad one.

I think everyone thinks tipping should be about percentage of the meal to the waitress.
My husband and I can afford to pay the right amount of tiping to the waiter or waitress if they performed their job well. My daughter is in town with a toddler and we go out for occassional lunches. She asked for a booster chair 3 times. The manager finally brought it to us. She brought plates of food and actually put it in front of the baby to grab. That was fun.
Then when my daughter needed her glass of iced tea refilled she ahd to ask 3 times.
I left about 10% of the tip.
But when everything flows smoothly and we are not being rushed to grab food away froim a baby then yes tipping is a pleasure.
My son who makes minimum wage always leaves a tip but he is not making a valuble wage to tip somone largely either.
So we have to take in consideration everyone's economical burden when tipping. not that people WANT to get up and NOT tip, unless their waiter or waitress have been rude. or had not taken care of their needs.

i guess i will give her $5.
OMG! I just reminisced my first tip at the hotel. I was really ashamed, but I had to accept it because the guests already grimaced the face when I said NO. well, i wasn't used to it because I used to work in the hospital and it's a very BIG NO NO
