Going to the ATM but finding out that your card didn't work

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Apparently my card was closed down without me knowing. I tried to use it at the ATM but it didn't work and I couldn't get any help because the bank was already closed. So, now I am cardless and it's going to take a few days for my new one to come in. I never realized what a hassle it is to not have my card. I've become so accustomed to using it all the time. I suppose this would teach me to always carry some cash with me instead of relying on a card.

i experienced the same thing once... i had no other cash with me and not even a penny in my pocket.. then unexpectedly.., my card cannot process any transaction in any atm branches i hiked to... i was profusely sweating and really hungry..and very frustrated too because i will have to walk all the way back to my house due to failure of atm to make transactions...i've also learned my lesson that day..=)

Ouch, I would have hated to be in your situation. Luckily I didn't really need the money for anything important. But I have to agree, something like this is a really good learning experience.

I actually did have this happen to me once. I had my card in the same pocket as my cell phone and it deactivated it. Today something else happened.I was at the store and went to pay for my groceries with my card when I remembered that I think I left it in the atm machine. I paid for my groceries with cash then went to the bank to see if anyone turned in my card. Thank god they did. Now I just have to check it and make sure all the money that was on there is still on it.

So, should we not keep cellphones with cards?

Hi saizo6, Althogh, carrying cash is a better option but at this time, people so much acustomed to plastic money that we do not like carrying them, Even people have sarted paying from their cellphones also. Well, it has happened with me before that I went to ATM only to find out that I have forgotten my password. It was so funnu that at the time of entering I had that in my mind but it seemed that someone wiped it out from my mind. Well, the outcome.. I could not deposite my fee and had to pau late fine.

My friend's card's magnetic strip was damaged and it didn't work well with some of the ATM and that caused a lot of inconvenience to him. Why does it seem to happen when you need it most? Anyways, he has got himself a new card now. I hope i don't get into such situations. Good day, take care.

It does seem that way. Just goes to show that we can't always rely on our card.

Yeah, it happened to me once, and then it took the bank about a week to send me a new card. It was really annoying! But luckily, it has not happened again since!

The guy at the bank said it was going to take five to seven days which isn't good. So now I'm basically stalking my mailbox waiting for the thing to come in.
