I have an eye problem. I went to the eye dr today after I had this funny thingy in my eye.
I scared me.
I've been gone from mylot for five days and wanted to let y'all know I'm back......but also to ask if you have had any thing like this:
VITRIOUS FLOATERS?
Now, please let me know if you do or have had them.
I would appreciate any info you guys might have.
Have you had VITRIOUS FLOATERS IN YOUR EYES?
THE DR. said the one I have might go away.......what do you think?

Well, I definately see this one ! it does kinda look like a tadpole, esp. the tail......
but it's directly in front of my eye and light catches in it and it's like a flare.
I hope this one goes away and doesn't cause me any more troubles.
I hope yours stay away too.

i have never encountered that word before, so i check wiki for the meaning, and as i checked what it says i do not think i have this kind of eye difficulty, so how are you now? and also why did the doctor have to say to you that your life will be shortened, only for that reason? is that possible?

I didn't say my life would be shortened for this reason.
I said because I am older I have these floaters in my eyes.
The inside of the eye gets harder with age and the inner eye moves and these changes of hardness makes imprints on the inner eye and we can see them and in some cases like mine they interfere with my vision.
I will live a long a happy life ! these floaters can come and go but they do not shorten any body's life.
These floaters are a part of life. Just like getting wrinkles...
I'm glad you checked the wiki. That shows you have learned something.
No, you more than likely do not have this difficulty. I haven't looked at your profile but if you did have a floater more than likely you'd see it.
They are not dangerous. They do cause some concern but not an emergency.
I will be around to answer your questions ! I promise :)

Yes I have had floaters for many years. Sometimes they are grey shadows other times they are little flashes of light (look like silver tadpoles). They come and go I have also gone to the doctor but they usually go away on their own.

HMM? tadpoles? well, this mostly looks like a piece of dust or a small spider web. When light hits it it causes a reflective process and hurts my eye.
I keep trying to wipe the spider off and he won't go:)
but the dr. said it might go away in a couple of weeks but if I have any further troubles to get to his office on the double.
Believe me, this old lady will go there tooo

quita sometimes they do, sometimes they dont, I just got used to mine but had not had an diabetic eyecheck up in years, and after I went almost wished I had not, I have cataracts in both eyes I guess and really one pretty good eye and one, my left one, has beginning macular degeneration so am not sure if it will progress or not. I am getting glasses in about a week. I am trying to tell myself so I have one bad eye but still have one good one and the glasses the doctor said will help me to see in spite of the bad eye.I am not going blind hopefu lly as my one eye just needed a little more help, my glasses had not been changed in years. Its just scary to thing somethings wrong with an eye, you know.My best friend bought me eye vitamins and calcium as she feels this will stop the degeneration so am so thrilled to be working at it. i will take them religiously. I wou ld not worry about the floaters. a lot ofpeople have them and still have good sight ,the first time I had one I was scared too but the eye doctor said as we get older a good many people get them.

OH my ! YOur eyes are worse than mine !! And, you are diabetic too. YOu better get your eyes test on a routine basis. Cataracts are nothing to sneeze at .........and of course neither is macular degeneraton..............
My aunt has macular degeneration and she's almost blind.
I hope your new glasses help. I got mine in FeB and got the cheapos cuz why worry about fake jewels, etc?"
Yeah, I too was scared when this funny stuff popped into my eye. Scared me. I have had opthalmic migraines and this could have been one but thankfully was not.
I do feel better after seeing the dr tho. At least I have time to see my grand sons again LOL
A yes, us old folks get it all don't we???????
I was hoping we'd start going backwards at a certain age.......just doesn't work that way LOL

hello quita88,
I never heard of this happening to eyes. I am glad you are better. Was it painful? or was it hard to see and everything was blurry? What did the doctor do?
I am also glad you back to my lotting talking to us. I hope you have a speedy recovery and get the real good answers from us Mylotters.
Thanks and have a great day!
Sincerely Unique16

No, not painful just bothersome. The one I have is interfering with my vision and yes it makes it hard to see but not to bad.
The dr. said it might go away. It's a hardening of the inner lining of the eye and most people never see them but some like me (of course) do see them.......but the dr. said to go on about my daily activities and if any more signs or symptoms such as flashing occurs then get myself into his office.
Yep, had my grand sons for five whole days :) But am really glad to be back ...
Thanks for being there for me.
hugs,quita

My husband has had a floater before, it about drove him crazy but it did go away. He is one of these people that notices the strangest smallest little things. We once took back a new monitor twice because he could see a line in the screen come to find out finally that is the line that fused the two sides of the screen together so it would be flat. He also sees some weird bending on the edge of the tv picture. These are flaws that the manufacturs know about but 99% of the population do not see. Good luck and I hope it goes away really soon.

I can imagine what that is like with a man who sees the smallest , tiniest little things and how it must drive you crazy.
My husband used to be that way but age slowed that down !
I was outside mowing the lawn and using a big DR power mower/trimmer and came in to cool down and the two grandsons and I started playing monopoly and then the thing just was there......like a spider web. It didn't hurt but it bothered me and light catches in it and bothers my vision.
I suppose you should be glad your hubby can see that well. You don't say how old he is.The dr. told me this morning that usually these affect older people. I'm 61 almost 62 and I was shocked to have this happen and thought it was from the hard work I'd been doing but the dr. said no.
I do too hope this spider web in my eye goes away and doesn't get worse cuz the dr. said if it starts flashing, we'd have to consider problems with the retina. Not good.
Tell hubby he's got a vision like a cat :)
Thanks and have a great night.
