I tried and lot of Anti viruses, and now I have the belief that Norton Internet Security Suite 2010 is the best choice. Any anti virus must cause your system to run slowly. However, some anti viruses causes the system to run very slowly. Norton does not slow down the computer so much. I know that the free editions of AVG and Avira may not slow down the system but the problem is that they are not efficient enough.
For more information about Norton, visit: http://www.symantec.com/norton/internet-security

I agree that old versions of Norton really slows down the system, and that's why I stopped using it since 2006. But a lot of people advised me to give a try to Norton 2010. When I tried it, I found that it is totally different. In my opinion, it is the best anti-virus as to safety and speed at the same time. You can use the trial version, and if you like, you can buy it after that.

The best anti-virus is nod32 it can detects all latest viruses. The performance of this anti virus is great, no problem when the computer is starting to up, the scan is very fast it can delete automatic the affected files and heal.

I second the motion... NOD32 for me is the best... or the second best (in terms of detection as compared to Kaspersky). But still this is my weapon of choice against virus, malware and spyware.
Nod32 leaves small foot print in the CPU usage (much better than Kaspersky in this matter).
And it gets updated once, twice or sometimes even three times as soon as its laboratory releases a new definition file. One more good thing about it is that it's not much intrusive like other anti-virus.

Comodo used to be good only in its firewall. Its anti virus software used to be of medium effectiveness. Version 3.0 is when the anti virus and firewall were integrated. Things became better and better.
I suggest you visit www.matousec.com to find out the results of a Proactive Challenge carried out by an independent group.
I have used McAfee, Norton, Karspesky, Avira, Avast, and seveeral others. I am sticking to Comodo Internet Security for the time being.
Having praised CIS I would like to remind you that it may not suit your computer system especially if it is old. Initially you may have some problems in adjusting to it. As for me I am satisfied with it.
