Hi everyone, I'm just wondering where did the world go wrong over the last few decades. I was listening to some older music before because i'm getting sick of the anger of most of todays music. Listening to older music it seem alot more calming and I can't believe it more enjoyable. Now I wish I was born in the 70's or 60's back when the music actually had some emotion in it. I was listening to one of my fathers favorite bands "Garry Puckett and the Union Gap." Garry has an amazing voice and the songs are nice. Has anyone on here heard of them? I know they are from around near Washington or something. I think music these days must have some effect on crime. What do you think?

I grew up in the 60s & 70s & I well remember Garry Puckett & the Union Gap. Yes, they were a good band. Yes, Garry had a GREAT voice!!! With the hippie movement, there was a lot of peace & love going around which affected the music of that generation. I also remember that many a parent complained about the anger in the youth. Jim Morrison of the Doors sang "Father, I want to kill you." & almost got their music banned from the radio. I still enjoy the Classic Rock of that era; but, I find that I prefer music of an even older generation, preferring the good old time Blues & Jazz!!! Yes, some of the newer Blues is still good, but the old stuff is GREAT!!! When you get into some of the older stuff, there are no words...only GREAT music to carry you on your journey!!! For me, the best thing about the Classic Rock is that while listening, it brings back some WONDERFUL memories of people & places that are now gone.

i highly doubt music has anything to do with crime in today's society. it's all about psychology and personal history. it's the environment the children grew up in, not the music they listen to.

Laws also have a play in it also it's hard now to discipline a naughty child a smack on the hand can be classed as abuse. When I was young in the 80's I got into dads car and drove it down the hill and smashed it. Dad smacked me real hard and I couldn't sit down. It taught me not to do that again. Nowadays it is unacceptable. Because it is harder to discipline kids they run amuck now because they know they won't really get punished that badly. Theres no real damage done now it was part of my learning curve. Dad did the right thing looking back. You can't even yell at a kid that's ment to cause mental problems or something. It's just a joke. I'm expecting a baby in February or March next year and the only thing I'm scared of is losing a kid to foster care for something so small like a small bruise somewhere and have them think that I did it. That's my biggest fear at the moment.

I think you may be right about most of today's music having an effect on crime; the words of the songs are full of anger and frustration, and the "music" is such that it makes you feel that way too. No wonder teenagers have the problems they do, growing up with that kind of music. I was a child of the 60's and 70's, when music was a joy to listen to, and the words meant something. I remember Garry Puckett and the Union Gap very well; Garry had a great voice. I still prefer to listen to the music of that era as I find it more enjoyable than most of today's music.

Last years i ever had feeling like you,I'm so sick with new music and i prefer with old music, but i realize that this is musical industry,we can't push some people to hear with our favorite music, for that you can leave the new music that you don't like it.Just be your self.
