I admit it, I fry laptop batteries so quickly. It's ridiculous. lol. However, I notice that my laptops seem to be good for about 3 years then everything starts breaking down, just in time to pass the normal 2 year warranty. There is one laptop, though, that still works but its too old to use with my wifi so I cannot work on it that much. And of course that brand is no longer available. lol.
What is the longest time frame that you've had a laptop that's worked in top form? What do you think is the best laptop brand?

I know you don't really like DELL, but my computer is a DELL, and yes, if you don't take care of the battery, it will fry.. here's a little tip, if you're actually using a power supply and your laptop battery is full, take the battery out, you will be able to use the laptop using the power supply...
I have a dell laptop that is still functional, and I've been using it for 6 years!! the only issue I have with it right now is the my video ribbon is fried and I need to get a new one replace.. other than that, that laptop served me awesome!!
For me, the affordable and value for money, is DELL.

I don't dislike Dell. I still think its better than my old Toshiba. Just been wondering which brand had the least amount of complaints/issues.
Thanks for your input.

I have two laptops, both HP product. The first is a CQ40 and the other is mini 1000.
I've been using my mini 1000 for about 4 years now and there seems to be no problem at all, except for some occasional time that it gets frozen due to viruses. Beyond that with regards to hardware so far so good.
The other one, well after a year of purchase it broke down and what the tech said is a problem in the lcd. It seems this type of mobile pc are prone to display malfunction. It took for about 3 weeks before the replacement part arrive. But then another problem arise. With the new lcd installed, the same problem still persist on coming up (a line below the lcd rattling with occasional flickering of the screen) again. Then again, a bought it back to the shop for their eval, but their feedback is that there's seems to have no problem at all. The lcd replacement as their pointing out, is in good condition. Lucky for me after I returned home with this laptop, I made a trial and error to reformat the system OS into windows 7 (initially it was vista) then wow the problem been solve like magic.

Interesting. I'm guessing that's another vote for HP. I'm sorry you had so much problem with the CQ40 one though, but it seems like everything is better so that's good.

My laptop is now 3 years and starts to break up.
It was 3 gig before and since the 2 gig memory starts to having trouble,it got to be removed and my laptop start working well again.
yah, just to top up the 2 years warranty i guess and then trouble will start to arise.
Unlike with desktop, our family pc is almost 9 years and still working good and doesn't give me trouble that much.
Have a wonderful weekend

I've had this laptop for 2 years and the battery is good. My other friend whose had her laptop the same exact kind for shorter than I've had mine has fried her battery too. Here's how I perserve my battery. I keep it plugged in pretty much all the time except when I take it to class or out in public but even there if I can find a plug I plug it in. Lately when I'm at home and it's plugged in I just take the battery out.
But new batteries arent that hard to find. My laptop is a Dell Inspirion 1525.

I agree with you, my hp laptop turns off in 5 mins if I don't have the power cable plugged in :/ I don't know how it happened but this problems started occurring a year and a half after I had bought it, now I've been using it for 3 years and I still haven't replaced the battery :(

I know your problem well. :(. Maybe they should give two batteries with a laptop- the normal one and a back-up.

The laptop that I used this past few weeks gave all and retired already with i dont know the reason why. It stop and always disconnected when im using this device and always at charge. The longest is 3years over but have a lot trouble. The brand we are using is acer. But i don't have any idea of what is the best brand of laptop to used this days because I heared to young guys that in every two years we need to upgrade our computer because it is obsolete already.

That makes sense. Computers are always advancing with new technology and whatnot.

I am still useing my first laptop and it is still working. it is the only one I have. when I got DSL I got rid of my desktop and now only use my laptop. I got it over 3 years ago, almost 4 years and I have used it quite a lot. It uses windoxs xp and I got it just before the debut of vista. the battery is still working but does not last long, the batter life was one hour but now last maybe fiffteen. I also think the brand is not aviaible anymore as well, it was a cheap brand bought in a walmart store. I would like to get a new one soon so I can have someting upgrated but I am uncertain aobut that.

Actually im a laptop junkie 2 and upgrade ever year or so.The laptop currently has been the longest at 2 years and yeah i am upgrading in a week or so.Im getting a sager 15 inch and a 1 gig video card and quad 2.8.Better than the 2.2 dual and 512 card.Usually i wait until computers are around 50 percent better before upgrading. I always want to have the current gen of mobile computing lol.

lol, I guess we can never keep up with technology because as soon as we blink, they are coming up with the newer laptop. A sager, eh? hm. Might look into that.

I've been using the same laptop for the last 2 years. However, just like you, my battery is fried :P
My laptop's only useful when it's plugged in. I learned the hard way that you should never ALWAYS have your laptop plugged in :P
However, my laptop is still in tip top shape. A little beat up, but it still looks new. It runs fast enough to run multiple programs. Even World of Warcraft, Messenger, and firefox all at the same time.
I've always loved HP so i'm gonna say hp laptops for the win!

lol, who would think batteries were so easy to fry. lol. oh well. My mom has an HP and she loves hers too. That's another brand to look into. At least to compare it with Dell.
