I really want to write and I don't know where to start. Can anybody help? Please tell me the steps on how to write or show some tips on how to write an article, a story or a novel. Thanks so much.

I really don't know if it's the right way to do it, but I go with something like this:
Write a script: I write down everything that is going to happen like:
-Mary's introductions.
-Mary meets John and that and that happens (things that I thought previously thought about)
Then I let the imagination flow when I start to write FROM this script, many things are added and then you will have to go back to include stuffs in the scripts cause the real story becomes bigger and you will have to change the script again.
This is my blog of short stories:

Cheers and good luck!!!

Whether writing a short piece or book, non-fiction or fiction, the first thing, once you decide on a topic is to do research. When I started writing my novella, Sword of the Undead, I re-told the Dracula story, so I thought the project would be relatively easy. However, in my story, the vampire is a Japanese lord, rather than a Transylvanian count, and he relocates from Japan to Los Angeles, rather than Transylvania to London. I had to research historical Japan, historical Los Angeles, and the stage of medicine during that time period, among other things. The research will continue until the project is completed.
The second thing, which really helps is to do outlines. Outlines help keep you focused on presenting your information (or story) the way you want it presented.
Even in short articles which you are mostly expressing your opinions, doing the research and writing outlines help. For instance, I write restaurant reviews and I still need to go to the restaurant and dine there, but it helps a lot when I know the background of the business, when it started, what they are known for, etc.
The third thing is to actually start. Any word to do, just the act of starting your story or article will help. If it is not write, cross out or edit later.
Hope this helps.

What do you want to write about? What do you know about it? What do you think about it? Write that down. Check your grammar and spelling and make sure what you wrote makes sense... that's all there is to it. There are no real secrets to writing well, other than having something to say and saying it so others can understand you.

Hi,
First of all, you have to identify the reason that you want to start writing. Some people write for fun and as a hobby, so they are not concerned about earning money from their writings.
If you want to earn money from them, the best thing to do is identify the best fields that you are able to write. For example, you can write articles about pets if you have a lot of knowledge and experience about them. Take cats and dogs, for instance. You can do your research by browsing online and then use the information you gather from the internet to write your own articles using your own words.
Never copy and paste any written articles from the internet because this action is considered a crime and you can be caught.
I am an article writer but until now I am still learning my ways. I believe the key to success is patience, know your ability, willing to work hard, try to find white hat shortcuts, creative and having enough time to perform your work.
I hope you will be able to achieve want you want in your writing. Good luck and have a nice day!

Hi, First think of any idea...some topic that interests you, something exciting or funny that happened to you, and so on. Then realize that you don't try to write down everything about your idea. Take one idea and narrow it down to one aspect of that idea.
For instance, say you like to travel. Traveling would be the idea but that's too big of a subject to write about. There are too many directions to take with that big idea. So whittle it down to one aspect of travel. Do you have some tips on how to pack a suitcase well? Do you know how to save money on travel that you might want to share with readers? Did you take a trip to a specific scenic location that a travel magazine might like to hear about? And so on.
Or suppose you like to cook. A good idea but again, just the idea of cooking is too vast to write about. Narrow the subject down, think of what angle of cooking you would like to write about. Do you know tips on picking good saucepans? Do you have several specific low-calorie recipes? Do you want to tell readers unique ways to save money on groceries?
Do you have pets? What about them? Do you know how to cut down on grooming costs while making sure your dog is well cared for?
And so on. Those are just a few examples. You can get inspiration anywhere. Just think of one big subject and then think of the specific direction you want to go in with that subject. Narrow it down to one angle of the big idea so you can get a better handle on what to write.
This works for fiction as well as non-fiction, but it does work better usually for non-fiction.
Hope this helps. Good luck with your writing. Also, check your library or bookstore to see if they have any writing magazines available. Writer's Digest is usually a good magazine. Sometimes these different magazines run articles on how to get started with writing but sometimes they can be a little bit pricey to buy. That's why I'd check the library first to see if they have any you can read for free. Good luck.

Hi emzymemzy
Good to know that you want to step into the world of writing. As many have pointed out, the first thing that you need to sure of is - what do you want to write about!
Once that is decided, I would recommend that you start off by reading a lot on the subject or area of interest. This would help you understand what is reequired from you as a writer. It will also help you learn better English or the language that you intend to write in. In the meantime, start writing. This is the only way you can try out learning how to write. Keep a dictionary (and a thesaurus) within reach.
If you are a computer savvy person, then put up your writings on a blog - use blogspot or wordpress - they are free and easy to use. This way you can ascertain how good and relevant your writeups are.
Happy Writing.
