How hard can it be?

I am an ok cook and have screwed up cooking many times. The worse thing to me is screwing up the rice. Sometimes I put too much water and my rice is soggy. I can kick myself half the time because I knew it while I was pouring the water.

I, too, boiled some eggs dry. I had put them on and then gone shopping with my mother. When I walked into the house, the second of three popped leaving just one. I took it out to my mom who was still coming in from the car and asked what should I do. She said to pop the last egg so I hit it with a spoon! A hot piece of egg flew up and hit my eyelid, burning it! OUCHIES!!! Hard lesson learned! Next time, just pour cool water over the eggs and clean up the mess. Believe it or not, though, I have BURNED steaks!!! Not just any steak, either...NEW YORK CUT!! And for company, no less! Was I embarrassed! Here I had been bragging about my steaks because I really did know how to make a good steak. So my dinner guests arrive and I get distracted and one side of the steaks got nice and crisp. I was apologizing and there they were saying, "Oh, we like it this way." Yeah! Riiiiggghhhht! LOL
