What's your favourite chess opening and why?

Personally, my favourite is probably the Sicilian Najdorf with Black. I tend to avoid the sharpest lines, and the ones that remain have a nice balance of being reasonable solid, but with great counter-attacking possibilities, and some great unexpected tricks. I hate games that are too solid and predictable. Your almost never beaten with the Najdorf. I like the idea of odd lines, but struggle to find one's that work!

Well, how about when you play white? When playing serious kinds of games, I used to play the Queen's pawn opening when white because I like complications and preparation before launching an attack. I like close games. I hope we can play correspondence chess sometimes.
