This year was our first year for vegetable gardening. It went better than I expected. We have learned a lot. We've learned what we do and don't want to plant again next year! Where I live some things grow better than others. Our best growing veggies this year would have to be okra, purple hull peas, lima beans and tomatoes. What do you iike to plant and have great success with?

We usually do really well with tomatoes and kentucky pole beans. We do ok with cucumbers & zucchini. We are trying out cantaloupe this year & seeing how things go.

my only problem I have is they either don't get enough water, pollenated, or a mold hits the leaves witch is a real bummer.

No one here eats cantaloupe but I had pretty good luck with cucumbers and zucchini as well.

Of course some plants do better than others, and to your surprise, next year will be even different.
Last year i had a lot of broccoli, this year none.
We have tried a lot of different things and ways of doing them. I have four large tires filled with dirt. You can pick crops easier, even after a rain. One has tomatoes, one with zucchini, one with strawberries and this year one with pickles. The pickles are neat, when they grow down the sides and on to the ground.
We have tried potatoes in 5 gallon pails and enjoy them that way. We dump the pails and do not have any damage to the potato, unlike a fork or shovel.
You can tell i enjoy my garden.

We tried potatoes this year. We just made mounds and planted them that way but the ants ate the potatoes before we could save them. Maybe next year our potatoes will do better. this has been a big learning process but we're loving every minute of it.

This year I just did tomatoes. I planted Chadwick cherries and Brandywines. Also, lots of herbs and marigolds to keep pests away. These are pretty full proof and effort free here in Pennsylvania and I didn't have a lot of time. I've planted just about everything at one time nor another and it's mostly all done well so long as I loosen the soil a little first (heavy clay soil here). I use Garden's Alive to lighten soil and it's great. About the only plants I have no luck with are peppers. The rabbits always eat them and the marigolds don't seem to help protect peppers the way they protect other plants.
