There are still 20 states in the United States that it is legal for schools to paddle students.
New York Representative McCarthy is pushing for a National ban on spanking.
What do you think?
Do you think schools should be able to spank?
are you in favor of a national ban?

No one, including these all-mightly schools, have the right to spank a child. The parents should be called in, the story told and if there is any spanking to do, the parents are the only ones that have that responsibility. But spanking isn't going to do anything but make the child mad and hateful. All they will remember is the spanking and who did it and how they hate that person. They won't remember WHY they got the spanking. I know... I grew up this way. One kid did something and all four of us got spankings for it. I hated my father for years, cause all I remember is him spanking me.. didn't ever remember why or what I did, other than we all four always got spank for the same thing. Only thing spanking taught me was to hate. Take away privledges or special treats, but don't spank.

Paddling children is rather sweet I think. Watching them standing at the edge of the ocean or wearing rubber boots as they jump into puddles. I think that it is rather enlightened of those states to make it a positive thing by having legislation that allows it. Shame on the other states for banning it. Where do they get off pontificating to us about what we can and cannot do. As for schools spanking? Spanking what?

Well, punishment could be given in other forms which does not lead to any injury or marks in the skin..
in this fact, spanking leads to injury and some times blood will even come out due to hard spanking..
So spanking should be stopped and banned throughout..
Here in schools when i was studying 10th grade the school principal will give punishments, it is similar to spanking but, the clothes wont be pulled off, and only three mild strokes will be given and the pain will go off in 20 minutes to 30 minutes..
This can be accepted, but spanking without clothes will not be accepted and it has not been done in any schools..
Only two authorities will give punishments , the principal and the associate principal ..The principal is a lady and she is a good teacher , she will not punish for any silly reasons like coming late or not doing the home work, only if the behaviour goes wild she will give some strokes at the back of the boys ..

I agree that there should be standards. When my daughter was younger, I spanked but I had rules with that. I would never ever spank her when angry, I would cool down first. Then it was always an open hand on her butt. No injury. I didnt spank hard to hurt her, simply firmly to get her attention.

I think if they have done something wrong they should get a spanking, no matter who gives it to them. When I was in school, the principal was allowed to spank us. My sister and I knew better. We weren't as worried about the spanking in school as we were when we got home and our parents would find out. That's when the real spanking would happen!
No one in our school (it was small) ever got spanked but the thought was always in the back of each student's mind that it could happen and so we needed to behave so it didn't happen.
I think just the thought will help behavior problems a lot in school, once in a while if they would use it I think the school's wouldn't have half the problems they have right now!

There are 2 people in this world that do have permission to put their hands on my kids... that's me and my husband. Anyone else lays a finger on them and I'll kick their @$$! I think most parents feel the same way.

I'd much rather the school call me and tell me what my child has done wrong, then I do the paddling at home if I feel it's called for... I would be outraged if anyone else, especially a teacher or principal or other school official, laid a hand or paddle on my child.
