Is Facebook gaining size but losing relevance?

Facebook is now fast becoming a global phenomenon.But all that popularity somehow repels me. That's because you never know who you are going to meet, your boss, your lover, your cousin,someone who insulted you etc etc and who knows after some time, maybe the ET too! But I don't like all that popularity since I like to keep a low profile. The logic is that the more members there are, the more searches will there be and the more will people look at your profile. That's why I deleted my account in facebook, a few months back. I know someone (my brother-in-law) who has both me and his daughter (she has just started college now in Mumbai while he is working in Dubai) in his friends list. I had both of them too in my friend's list! Yeechhh! What do others feel about this?
