I can write poetry, stories, and articles...but I have never written a book review. Is there a specific format? What's the best way to go about writing a book review?
All your help is greatly appreciated! :)

So, assuming you've read the book...
Writing reviews for anything follows a very similar criteria.
You'll be aiming for at least 250words and you'd want to include the following:
1. Title and Author
2. Plot and Setting
3. Talk about the characters
4. Most importantly - use your opinion! Would you recommend it others? What you liked and don't foget to include what you didn't like (it makes you review sound like a review, not a sales pitch).

Not a problem, the main idea is to give your opinion. Hense, you'll be writing a lot in first person, almost never third if you want your review to sound effective.
If you're looking to try your luck at reviews I would suggest "reviewstream" I've gotten payment from that site before during my time of writing reviews for them. They basicly accept any topic, some just do more well than others.
All the best!

To Write a Book Review follow these few steps
1.Don't read the book.
2. Build a framework for taking notes.
3. Read the book.
4.Pay attention.
5. Review the book and take notes that let you explain its effects.
6.Sum up the book.
7. Pass judgment.
8.Put the book in context.
9.Check your aim.

I write book reviews and I usually give a brief, spoiler free summary of the story. Then I talk about what I liked about the book. Then I talk about the author and give criticisms, then I write about whether I recommend to buy the book or borrow it from the library.

Hi,
I review a lot of books for my job.
First, of course, read the book. Right down things that bother you, or that you find extremely well.
Start the review with a summary of the book and then start with the actual review. You can write about why the story was good or not so good, how the style of the book contributes to the reading pleasure and so if. If the book has illustrations, you can talk about the relationship between the pictures and the texts.
The most important thing to remember is: always tell WHY you like/hate something.
Good luck!
