I was messing around on ChaCha and had a question about Peace Corps, and so now I am a little bit interested in it. I have always enjoyed helping people out but I don't know if I could do it for 27 months, or whatever the commitment for time abroad is. Does anyone have any experience or know anyone who does with Peace Corps? What are some things you would say about it ? What time in your life would you suggest doing something like this? And about how much experience do you think you need to be eligible to be a volunteer? Please share your experiences!

I've thought about the peace corps on and off for years now. I'm in college at the moment and have thought about joining after, but I don't think my majors will be usable to the peace corps. I dunno, it's a big step. I don't know if I'd be able to be away from my friends and family for so long with so little contact. It's not like I'm moving to a different state, ya know? There's just so much for me to think about and I over think everything so it may be a while before I come up with a conclusion haha.

Hi Maesee My cousin and her husband started out in the Peace Corps and then worked for years in Vista. It was their lifelong work. They loved it and only a few years ago retired from this kind of work. They are awesome people. You do have to have college behind you. You need to have something to offer. They do not train you. It is not like doing church work where you just go over and wing it. You have a job. Go online and read about the Peace Corps at their website!!!!! Shalom~Adoniah
