annoyed by friend requests...

Yeah, It's been going on for a while now, they think they can earn referrals by these methods maybe. And come to think of it, there must be only one person behind those PMs and usernames, Maybe the admin could do something about their IPs, and that those members could be reported..

I dont receive friend requests from anyone I dont know. I guess its up to you if you want to accept them as your friend or not. If you think these people has nothing to do with you then deny them. But first look at the benefits that they can do to you whether they are new member or not.

Yes, i once did get a message from a girl, who had just joined and who had sent me a link to join some site.The first time i gnored her but after a few days i once again received another message from the same girl but in another avatar with the same link.I once again ignored her and after that haven`t received any messages from her. I have made friends with some newcomers but have seen that they have made a few posts.I did so to encourage them to go all out in mylot.

I have received many a request from those that have zero posts. I just deny them, as I am almost positive they are just spammers anyway, and I don't need that. You are right though, when you say they just come in here to get referrals. That is what makes them spammers. If someone wants to be my friend, they had better have post or I will just ignore them. I have a lot of friends anyway, and they just keep coming. I have in the past though, checked their profiles, and if they have not loggged in for several months, then I will just delete them. Now, some will come back, but some don't. I know I should wait to see if they come back, but they might never. I only want those that will be active in here and participate. I am not in the habit of denying friend requests. We can never have enough friends. You do not know sometimes where your next great friendship will come from. It could certainly come from mylot. We are a social site, so I like to be accepting as i can be.

So did I. I used to approved friends without checking their profile but now I am more careful. I won't approve friends request easily if I see they won't make any participation in mylot (indicate by zero in parenthesis a side of their username). I will check on their profile before decided to approve them. I have experienced the same thing as you did. They just want add me as their friends in order to spamming me easily by sending PM. Currently, there are 4 friends request and all of them zero participation and no discussion started by them. I won't approve them unless they make any contribution here.

Okay I read through and there were good suggestions, but here is what I do. I accept the friend request, after all they are new and may need help and they can help you by being your friend. But if they send you a PM asking to join their site, what I do is reply back and tell them I am not interested. Then if I get another one, I report them. Or you can report them without replying to them, especially if you see they have been signed up here for days and still have a (0)...

Hi. shibham. I am starting to not, accept any friend request anymore from people that are only interested in sending me referral links or money making opportunities that I have not requested. I am refusing their friend request from now on too. When they have nothing but friends and no posts whatsoever, I will not add them as a friend of mines. MyLot is a place of participation and not of spamming other members, so I don't blame you for being annoyed by these friend requests that you are receiving.

Hi shibham, I have two to be cleared off. Earlier I had never bothered if or not one has posted any. But since I too went through the same confrontation these days. I have not approved any unless they have some post. Better knocking out such requests and stay all yourself. Nice day..

hello dear bhai, I got almost a hundred pending friends request. That is one reason why i don't accept friends request much due to referral links. I get disappointed thinking that those people joined this site for sending referral links here. There is nothing wrong sending referral links,but,what made me feels disappointment is,those people are not active here,and their profile is full of banners That is why i am too choosy when accepting requests (sorry to those ones who sends me request from one year) How's your weekend dear

They are coming again and again like unwanted cats! I have deleted some, but after a few days, the same group of people will appear again using new usernames but I suspect they are the same people, they just changed their usernames. They send the same messages again and again. Some of them are from India, while others are from the Philippines. From now on, I will never accept a friend request from someone with zero post.

Hello. I find this problem to be a genuine problem. I am a newbie here but I understand mylot is a social network where discussions take place so that mylotters get to know each other and learn from discussions shared. As a possible solution to the problem you are all having here, I suggest that mylot blocks the options of sendind friend requests for members with 0 post or for those having less than the minimum posts (example 100 posts - even if that excludes me as well.lol).

Yes I have a couple of them in my friend request section but I am not inclined to accept them. When I started out in Mylot a couple of months ago, I only observed what's going on in the site. I find it pleasurable to read interesting items that somehow echoes my own thoughts. So I decided to join the discussions once in a while for a couple of days. Then I opened up a discussion to find friends here and I found very good people as my new friends in Mylot. It is only here in Mylot that I feel safe accepting friend requests from members whom I don't personally know, but before I do accept them, I check their profile and if they have no usage whatsoever, I ignore them. It is my conviction that to gain good friends, you should first be good to them and then I try to know them and here, I read topics started by them and their responses to discussions. If I find their discussions in the positive then I believe they are amiable people, I accept them wholeheartedly and so far I am not mistaken, I like friends who share the same interests with me. I hope they like me too. They give me great ideas and I can express my own thoughts too. I don't believe I will ever accept those friend requests. Thanks for posting this thread. hi shibham, yes i see it is annoying. i have 4 friend request still in pending. i checked their profile, they all have 0 post, but have many friends, even join mylot earlier than me.. it's suspicious to me.. i guessed they just want to send private message..that's why i don't accept their friend requests.. and you have experienced.. thanks for sharing.. i'll keep them pending. happy mylotting.

I now wait and see if people have posted here before accepting friend requests. If they don't have a post count after 3 days, I reject the request. I'm also annoyed by getting friend requests from people who only want to spam me.

Well, i too had same experience, asking me to sign up for some sites under their referrals.. I never looked at their links.. I have accepted their request to be my friend here, but i didnt find any of their posts here.. Well, i won't annoy u like that.. Add me as ur friend !!!

Hi Shibham, the same with me too.. I have been recieving friend requests for the past 4 days from new comers. I was amazed to see their friend request with a post count 0. I thought they wanted to be my friend and I accepted 2 of them. The next day itself. I got private messages from them. The funny part is that the messages contained links to their sites. I was surprised to see that both the messages were same and the referral link were also same - with the same referrer name..I think both the messages were from the same person. After that, I decided not to accept friend request from new people. I have 2 more pending requests. I do not want to recieve spam messages from them - so it stays pending for the past 3 days. I feel like denying their requests.

hi shibham! i have received the same thing too and i just ignored it.from the username i could say that they are the same person and i always check the profiles to see if they are an active member or not.surprisingly they do nothing but the friends list is countless.so i decide to ignore them. by the way here is my friend request.do accept me---don't worry i wont asked you to join any sites! have a nice day!

I get the same thing.. Probably not as much as you do though. Since your post count is high, you're obviously very active so you're most likely a prime target for them. Half the people who added me just send me links to be their referrals, I have never signed up for any of their sites.. Mylot is more than enough for me.

I just delete those requests. The one I got the other day was from someone brand new, with no discussions or comments, just like you said. Nothing except a money-making link on their profile. And they already had over 200 friends. Suckers! I don't understand why people fall for this kind of thing. They should realize that they're being asked to be a friend so that someone can make money from them. No other reason.
