Well, all of us perhaps work for one main reason, MONEY! But what else aside from money makes you feel good about your work?
As a Nurse here in the Philippines, working is really hard. You work without pay in the first few months as a volunteer. Many nurses still grab the opportunity to work even without pay, just to gain experience and travel abroad. again, for DOLLARS!
For me, I knew and realized just how important my work is for me. I can work and extend my hours even without pay just to serve my patients. I see that serving them and satisfying them makes me a better nurse and a better person. This probably is the main reason why I love my work. I stay strong because of them and because they want me to still continue what I've began. It is a fulfilling experience.. Share your experience too. What do you like most about your work aside from money?

When I was an events coordinator I like the fact that I am coordinating or communicating with other people and of course that was been an exercise to my part since I am walking around. Aside from that I was able to tour in different bars then learn something about the drink.

definitely you are right I really love drinking. I don't usually go in parties but then I really like drinking cocktails. I even experimented others but yeah it is expensive. Yes it makes really sense if you are dealing with other people since it also improves our self esteem as well. That is what I have observed in my case.

Now only my wages.
I really enjoyed my work place when I first started, when my eyes wasn't aware what was going on and when I didn't fully know what people was like. Sadly, I quickly learned that people was backstabbing others and staff was being dismissed for no reason at all. I don't enjoy working where I am and I'm trying my hardest to find a new job, this isn't exactly what unemployed people want to here but my boss holds the rota over my head in effort to control me.
The points came where I just go in wanting to leave, I do my job in the same way but I really not bothered about helping others anymore.

I do not have a job like you have, where you get to serve many needy patients and I think yours is one of the best professions in this world. I love my job, which has less public dealing and I always believe 'work is worship'.

Aside from the MONEY, I love that I am self employed and don't have a boss. I worked in the work force for other people for 25 years of my life and finally for the last 10 years I have been self employed and love it. No more being told what to do. I love it.
I clean houses for a living. The only person I have to answer to is my clients and that's very seldom. I have been cleaning some of my clients houses for 10 years so they never question anything I do or nag me if I miss something.
My daughter now works with me also, for the last 3 years, and it works out great. We usually clean 5 houses a day and earn a really good living doing it. We only work 5 or 6 hours a day plus driving time. It's great.
If I want a day off I can take a day off and just rearrange the clients of that day to the rest of the week and we don't loose out on any money. When I want to take a holiday I just take a holiday. My clients understand that it's a job for me and I need to take holidays too.

For me the most important element of work is satisfaction. I feel so great when I finish a work well done. I cannot conceive to do work without doing it as well as possible. If I consider I cannot do my work as I want to, I leave it for another person who can. There is no satisfaction for me if my work is not done properly. So why to do it any way?

I am a therapist now in semi-retirement. I just see an odd client now and again, but not like I used to all day and every day. Although the work was hard and sometimes stressful, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. NOw I work mostly on line answering e-mails and giving advice by e-mails, and it does feel very satisfying when somebody tells me that it has really helped him/her. _Derek

Hi reco, I like the way you phrase this question - What do you like most about your work? It shows such a positive attitude. You have chosen to work in a profession where you work with people who need you - and you love your work. I'm sure that it is and will remain a fulfilling profession for you. Reading your discussion has made my day, thank you. Blessings.

Well, I work for a rescue unit before. It was quite long.. 13 years to be exact. Just like you, I work and extend just to help other and save lives. It was very satisfying and fulfilling minus the money part since the pay is not so good. But I never regretted such considering that I have save a lot of lives and served a lot of people. Well, now, I am no longer working as such but I do conduct training still in the art of saving lives. Its not that big on the earning, but then again, it is very satisfying.

I work for Wal Mart and I have been with the company for 5 years. The best part of my job is the interaction with different people. I always tell people that I get paid for having fun. My job is fun yet challenging. I work at the customer service desk. I have a great bunch of co workers and a superb manager. I would not want to change jobs for the world. I know many people don't like Wal Mart, but for all of my 5 years that I have worked for them, I have been treated fairly and respected by all.

During my younger days I liked my job. It took me to other countries. This is why I enjoyed my work. I traveled and spent at company's expense. But now I prefer to spend more time at home with my family. I simply do not like to travel. I hope I have lots of money so that I can stay at home and enjoy my family life.

There are many reasons why I like my job! First of course, my salary! Even it's a part time job, the salary is good! Second, very convenient because I'm working in my house. So I have more time in the house and with the kids. It's a home-based work! It's just the same with you reco13, it's the service. I am an online Teacher, since I already stop teaching in school so I decided to teach online. Sometimes I do extend also my time even it's not paid because I want them to learn. I don't know but it's one of the traits of FILIPINOS.

I like most in my work right now is the friendship we have in the group. Though we are in operations with shifting schedules, we manage to get in-touch and help each other, especially when there is trouble in our system. I also like my work right now because I can work online also when I have less work to be done during my shift, Maximizing the time & resources. :)

Travel ! I am in the international trading business, and that makes me travel to countries around the world. And, all at the company's expense. I get the chance to see interesting places in different countries, meet and make friends with people of different cultures. That's really interesting and exciting !

Hello. :)
I like your discussion. Well, for me.. what i like about my work is that I don't need to wake up early in the morning which is one of my weakness. I hate waking up early so I like my work schedule. Aside from that, my job is related with my major and my interest so I sometimes enjoy my work. But sometimes i feel bored. Lol.
Actually, the salary makes me feel good too. Compared to my previous work experience, this job offers higher salary than those of my previous companies i worked with.
Though, not all of my colleagues are friendly and fun I still comfortable to work with them.
I like surfing the internet so if ever I have free time i can just do anything on the net. I like my job but i wouldn't be here for a long time for it doesn't offer any permanent benefits. But so fa.. i don' t have any serious complaints about it.
Happy mylotting!!!

Well for me aside from income, I like my work because you can easily determine if your company is doing good or not.As a accountant we can easily determine if the company is stable or doing well to the industry. We can move as early as it can be if our company is going down.We are the one giving the reader of the financial statement if they invest or not.We consider our self as a right hand of the company.
