And then there were 27...

and not in a good way I got up this morning and Kit was on the floor in a strange seeming way. I went and checked on him and he had passed away. We lost his buddy, Chalube just last month (well, maybe June, but not that long ago) and at least we knew Chalube was sick. Not that Kit was looking the best, he had gotten thin, but he wasn't as thin as Taj or Star were. It was quite a shock. I went out as soon as it was light and dug a hole for him - and now that the roomie had a chance to say good bye, I've buried him. I guess the reduction in humidity this morning helped make it not quite so hot to do so, we've been having a very hot week this week. I hate losing my babies, but when they go unexpectedly, that's even harder...

I guess he was missing his friend. How very sad. I hope he didn't suffer and that it was quick for him. He may have had a seizure. I'm sorry I'm late, I so hope I'm not stirring up any painful memories for you.

Poor elic. Is it the same all the time or do you sometimes get away with strenuous physical activity?

It gets worse when I do something like dig a hole, I guess I would get adjusted if I did it more, but since I don't...

I'm so sorry you had to find him that way, yet it seems he didn't suffer any, so that was good, too. It is hard. I still hate thinking about Shady, whose kidneys had shut down, who was so uncomfortable that I had to take her to the vet a year ago for the final goodbye. No matter that it was the humane thing to do, I still feel I betrayed her trust in me and miss her very much. We'd had her since 1993. My condolences, Elic. It is never easy.

I suspect he was starting to have kidney failure, but I think he mostly was just ready to go, and maybe he had something else going on that I didn't notice

Oh Elic! I'm so sorry this happened!! And I'm so sorry to be three weeks late!! Bless your sweet and kind heart!! Just remember all the good you're doing for your fur babies and how many more you'll be able to help in the future. That's what Kit would want you to do. I'm sure he's thanking you for giving him a home and the love that you showed him. Hugs!!

Last pix of Kit - He looks so sad, and he was so thin he fit in that pot - granted its a good size pot, but still...
I hope so, he never came in to sleep with me but he was always in the kitchen bumming pets...

By the time we got him at 6, he'd been in 3 different homes, locked in a shed for months and mauled by a dog...

I'm so sorry. I know how that feels. I buried my cat Bogie in the back yard after finding his little body by the side of the road where he was hit by a car. It devastated me and it is harder on us when it comes so suddenly but if it's any comfort, it might be easier on them.

Finding a cat that way is heart breaking, and I became more reluctant to let my cats out after that happened to me

And some people think animals don't grieve. I am sorry for the loss of your furbaby but maybe he was missing his buddy too much. The same thing happened with a dog my mother had when the older dog passed away it wasn't too much longer after that, that the other dog passed away too. And my parents had to get another cat when their cat Sam passed away last year cause the other cat Maggie was crying every night cause she was alone. And the kicker is that Sam and Maggie hated each other but Maggie still missed her. I am sure it all for the best even if it doesn't feel like it.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your kitty. That's hard to loose a pet that you loved alot and w/o warning. Hopefully the heat will calm down for you. I know it's supposed to pick up speed here in the next day or so along w/ tons of rain.

the heat has been bad, but the humidity was low this morning so the temp was lower and I was able to dig the grave without suffering from heat

I am sorry for your loss; it does not get any easier no matter how many pets we have lost in the past; they are like little people and they are so missed when they go. The comforting thing is that he is in a much better place; I like to believe that I really do. Condolences to you my friend.

I also believe he's in a better place, he's happy and with everyone he loves and he's getting all the love he can handle - he never seemed to think he was getting enough from us.

Sorry to hear of your loss.I hate it when our pets die.I have had all the upset recently with my cat getting ran over and i know that it is really upsetting when they get killed.I think that having 27 cats would keep you on your feet abit.I love cats and we are down to only four cats.

Thanks, yeah, some days those 27 are about 25 too many - today is one of those days, every where I moved today there was a cat in front of me! Even at my client's, her cat was like where ever I wanted to be, except when I was bring her back in from outside!

Sorry about Kit. I think sometimes it is a little easier if there is some sort of warning! I am so sorry you found Kit like that. We really get attached to stuff pretty easy and that's not bad...

I guess it is better that I found him when I did rather than later, because if it had been later when I tried to dig his grave, I would've suffered more than I did. The body didn't like digging, but at least I wasn't suffering from the heat

I'm guessing Kit missed Chalube very much. Now they're together again. Sadness for you but joy for them. Take care.

Ya i got few friends who pets die recently from various reasons. One die 2 rabbit, i guess because they are young i think like 3 months old.No sign of diarhroe or vomiting or blood stools or fever. One morning they are just there stiff. But my friends has 2 pythons alos.So he feed the 2 die rabbit to his albino burmese python since they are still fresh and no maggots flies.
