Have you ever been to Mexico City (Ciudad de México)?

Mexico´s Cathedral and El Zócalo, the city´s main - The cathedral is the largest and oldest cathedral in the Americas and was built from 1573 to 1813. It is a gothic church built in a similar way as churches of that time in Spain.
The sight is awesome and the Zócalo lets it be seen in full view..

Ciudad de Mexico is the capital of Mexico. It is the city with more inhabitants in the world although it s density is not as big as other mayor cities. What makes it awesome is that you can see just about anything you like. You can see incredible precolumbian ruins, 18th century palaces, churches from the times of the viceroys and skyscrapers. I have never been to a museum so breathtaking as the Archaeological Museum there. For people who like music (folk, clasic, pop) there it is. If you like art, they have had world renowned painters. I specially love the pride that mexicans have of their culture. It´s reasonable: when the western culture was in diapers, the mayas and other natives were studying the sky and getting results. Have you been there? What have you liked best? I could not choose: it´s all too wonderful. Share your own experience.

That is interesting to note that mexico city is the biggest city in the world with highest number of its inhabitants and yet it population density is not as big as other major cities in the world. That is very interesting for me. How do yu compare that to say city like New Delhi or New York or Tokyo?

I haveonly been to New York. There there are lots of skyscrapers (I imagine that happens in Tokyo too). So the population lives in a smaller area than in Mexico city. I imagine that Mexico City has not so many tall buildings because it´s an earthquake zone. I know that New Dehli is a very big city, but the last time I read about population it wasn´t as big as Mexico city. I´ll check.

I do not know either, I just mentioned New Delhi, thinking India is the most populated place and it should be overcrowded there. May be I am mistaken. I should also check or shuld have checked.

I have never been to Mexico City and probably never will because of my severe corn allergy. I do think that it is a very interesting place, and Mexico is a pretty amazing country, but Mexico City was pretty much the creation of the Aztec, it was a marshy lake before they started building on it. The Maya were an amazing people in their own right, but as a powerful civilization they were pretty much gone by the time the Spanish arrived. They were basically a few villages that remembered their former greatness and told the Spanish. Not to say that they weren't great tho. But they weren't in Mexico City

You are very right. Mayas lived more towards Central America. But in museums you can see that they traded with the people who were where Mexico City is now. But probably it was before Cortés came. Even Teaotihuacán, the great piramids near Mexico City, are not aztecs. There were many cultures at diferent times that were incredible. Maybe none of them had the knowledge of the mayas, but the aztecs were a powerful empire.

I haven't but I would like to visit it someday. I love traveling, exploring new things and meeting new people. If I've been given a chance to go there, I would love to. I believe there's a pyramid there, if I'm not mistaken.

To be honest with you. I want to go to Mexico, and make my trip blog there if I can. For the past years, I had planned on vacations to go to the Latino countries, but I just delay my plan year after year. For sure, I would go to Mexico city one day, but I don't know when I would go yet, what a shame.
