yeah, sad to know it too. :(
onemanga.com was the first resource of manga I found before I finally got to know other online manga scanlation viewer sites. :(
I have to say, I got to know a lot of titles from onemanga.com, because a lot of titles aren't translated yet. I read many genres too.

what?...I didn't know until now....I was waiting for the updates on Hunter X Hunter just to be informed that the site closed? So dissappointing. I was also planning on reading other mangas. it was good while it lasted.

Yes, I'm disappointed as well. It was a good site for all sorts of manga. This will probably set off a chain reaction to other manga sites. What a shame.

Yeah, I saw that they were shutting down the scanlation section of their website. It's because Japanese and American publishing companies for manga are tired of the people who just read and don't buy. I like to read it, but I like to buy it because it supports the author who worked to write and illustrate it. I do think the ones who write good stories deserve to get paid, and I will support them when I can. But the thing is, they carried licensed titles that are being published over her, and the entire point of scanlations is to promote stuff that's NOT YET LICENSED over here. I'm buying my favorite series, and if I want to read it free, I'll go to the local library, because at least someone paid for those books and the author got something for their work. The scanlation sites don't divvy up their profits and sent it to the authors, so it's hard to say that scanlations actually help mangaka get money. Exposure sure, but not money. I've never bought a manga because of a scanlation. It's not fun reading on a screen, I like a paperback in my hand, it's just easier to enjoy it that way.
