The Eternal Battle: Heels vs. Air Forces

I have so many pairs of sexy, cute and fun high heels and platforms, it is not even funny! The problem is, when it comes time to get dressed up and go out I start thinking:
"Can I dance in these shoes?"
"Will my feet hurt?"
"Will my clumsy behind fall over in public?"
"Am I going to drink too much to wear these?"
So in the end I usually end up leaving in one of my many colored Air Forces, or a even flip flops.
Not to mention I am already 5'8 and heels make me a giant, which makes me sort of uncomfortable.
Any ideas on how to get myself to get more use out of my heels?

I am right there with you. I have so many pairs of heels, and I never wear them. I am also 5'8" and feel like I'd be towering over people if I wore them. My husband is only about an inch and a half taller than me. So, even though he tells me I look sexy in them, I feel uncomfortable when I look taller than him. They've been sitting in my closet, and I'm not sure I'll ever wear them.
I'll keep an eye on this discussion, to see if anyone has any good advice though!

I know, it's so funny also to think how many short women wish they were tall, and are insecure about there height while we are having the opposite problem! Kimora Lee Simmons suggests "exaggerating your most predominant feature, for example if you are tall, wear high heels."

Thanks! But for me it's not mostly about pain, its about the ability to be graceful. I have found the skinnier the heel the lest grace I have. But platforms get really boring and chunky heals are not in style right now.
