Well have a look at Intel's i7-980X 6-core processor. I think this is the best processor that i've ever seen in my life. Totally amazed by its performance and specifications.
Its instruction set is very large and it contains all the previous instructions set and also newly created sets which enhances the user experience in all the fields whether its graphics, video, desktop processing, compressing and many more tasks.
And this one supports turbo boost and hyper threading. So, its more beneficial as it gets automatically overclocked to meet the performance requirement by the user. That's the best thing i like about this.

The processor will have to be a major part, My dual core 4200 performs satisfactorily since i do Auto CAD 2009. a better graphics card will also improve the quality of picture.
