making a deal with the dentist

Thursday night, we had just gotten back from vacation, and Dearra and I were rushing to get to her high school orientation. The light we were at turned green, but nobody was moving. Some idiot was jaywalking against the light. So I said a few choice words, and then started driving as he was finally out of the way. As I get closer to him, I see that something looks familiar about him. I take a closer look and tell Dearra, "it's our dentist". We laughed so hard that the "jerk" was somebody we knew.
This morning I have a dentist appointment. When he gives me the usual lecture about flossing, I'm going to make a deal with him. I'll start flossing more if he gives up jaywalking.
whaddya think?

*secretly wonders if it's a good idea to piss off someone who sticks pliers and other pokey instruments in your mouth*

Hiya dawn,
Did´nt he say anything to you when you sat in the Chair? (I mean about the incident) Or did he not recognize that it was you saying something to him?
Or was he trying to pretend that you had not seen him and he had not heard you? Or a bit of the both?
I don´t think I could have gone to have seen the Dentist in a while after that if he had heard me .

Hiya dawn,
Oh right so him not seeing you was the best thing then but you must have felt like laughing a bit even just a little bit. Did´nt you even want to laugh a bit just to yourself I mean?

Hey dawny! Are you trying to say that you almost ran your
dentist over because he was jaywalking? Shame on him! I would
have definitely have given him a lecture for sure! What good
would he have been if you or someone else had squished him?
Then you would have had to find a new dentist and your trip
would have been a total waste of time! Dumb azz dentist!

that depends. Does he have a sense of humor? If he does, you can say that. If he's a stuffy guy, better be quiet.

That would all depend on the dentist's personality. The one that hubby and I go to would have just laughed about it. He is a good natured man. He just recently pulled a tooth and told me to bite down on the gauze. I did but he didn't get his fingers out on time and I accidentally bit his hand. He teased me about going home to get something to eat cuz he said I must have been hungry lol. I apologized but he said don't worry about it that just surprised him that it didn't hurt and usually it's the kids that get him.

I think he would have laughed, but I decided not to take the chance!

Oh, that was so funny! Well, the guy is Polish. Maybe our laws don't apply to him? lol.... But that was super funny. Yeah, I told her not to mention it... He's the guy who is in charge of a bunch of sharp, pointy tools and can raise the bill.

If he grew up in Communist Poland, I'd imagine he had a good time seeing what he could get away with. And here it's so much easier to get away with stuff.

I love this discsussion topic! I hope when you see your dentist you let him know about the jaywalking! Embaress the crap out of him! I wish I could be there to see how he tries to get out of being confronted about this! Good plan! tell him no more jaywalking and you'll do more flossing! I like that! Good luck!

Well, jaywalking might get him killed. Not flossing will increase the risk of cavities, and although cavities rarely kills anyone in civilized countries anymore, they hurt, it costs money to repair them and bad teeth makes you look older than you are. So both would benefit from a deal like that. However, to be a sensible and boring know-it-all: you should floss regardless of what your dentist do :-)
However, you could try to get it cheaper by saying that if he gives you a discount, you won't hit him next time he crosses the road when he shouldn't!
