Article Writing and Virtual Assistance

I am very new to the idea of having an online job. I have heard/read a lot of good reviews about getting paid to write articles and being a virtual assistant. I think the most attractive aspect of having these kinds of work is that the pay is far better. To give you an idea of the difference, the basic salary for an 8-hour job 6 days a week is about 250 to 300 dollars(Philippines)--as compared to being paid 500 to 600 dollars for writing articles or being a virtual assistant. As I have mentioned above, I have absolutely NO experience whatsoever in these sorts of work but I am very much interested in learning. What skills do I have to learn? Can I find somebody to train me? Thanks :D
