I think its a lot like in school. You know how the "popular" kids pick on the kids that are different than them. Except, in this case every county considers themselves the popular kids, and everyone else the "different" ones. This is not really a new thing the world over, it's just taken on a heavy religious tone during this go around, as it has before. So many people are focused on "my way is right and you are wrong for not thinking like me" that they forget that we are all different in some way. Here in the US they have put in place "anti-bullying" laws in the schools, but that is not going to solve the same problems the world over. It just ends up depending on how you choose to view the events in your life.
One example of this is I am Caucasian, one of my grandfathers had a rough childhood and his mother had left the family for a Japanese man. Later he fought in WW2. When I was in collage, I rented a room in a house that had 5 other collage kids living there. One of the people was a half Japanese man. When my grandfather came into town to visit, and found this out, he stopped talking to me for 4 years. This is just one actually mild example of blanket hate.
I do believe that over the next 4 generations though, that a lot of this type of thinking will fade out. It seems very prevalent at this point in time with all of the events of the last decade, however they have actually decreased, as fewer countries are going to war with each other. 500 years ago neighboring cities could not even keep off of each others throats, but now we are down to a couple of countries squabbling it out.
In my opinion it is really over exasperated due to the current availability of technology and media. I actually last month canceled my cable, as I was tired of turning on the TV as seeing everything in world events, I mean everything. Honestly what does someone in Texas need to know about a teenager that jacked a car in Main. And it is the same with every indiscretion the world over. My recommendation, turn off the media and go out and meet people. lol
