Do You Have a "Dog" Cat?

My newest baby, Freddie, which I got last Christmas is what I call a "dog" cat. He has more dog like behavior then cat like behavior. He is such a sweetie. He follows me around everywhere, even sitting on the side of the bathtub while I shower. Right now he is curled up asleep about 2 feet from me while I am on the computer. He is very affectionate and will even come when I call him and I have the feeling that I could get him to walk on a leash easily. So I was wondering does anyone else out there have a "dog" cat?

Yes, we have that before, We named him ginger. He was a very small kitten that's been thrown away by someone so we took him in. So, he started very young being with us, and we have an adult dog so, we told our dog, his name is Gondo, to take care of the baby, hehehe. And he did, so our kitten as he was getting bigger got that attitude of being more of a dog than a cat, very affectionate, and always want to be with us, and him and his brother Gondo are are always licking each other and playing. Ginger even think that he can talk to us. He like to rub his face to my face and nose and he thinks that he still a baby trying to suckle into my dress, he is funny.... I love pets.

Ginger sounds like a loving cute kitty. My cats rub faces too, its a cat greeting. And all of mine still do the bread kneading thing, they were all taken from their mother too young.

Yes, he is, he do the kneading thing too, and we talk to him like he can understand us, and our dog understood us hehehe, taken care of ginger like his own. Here in the Philippines we can let them live outside our house so, they can get in and out, and ginger like the women so he like to go out so much and though we miss him, he has found a place where he is more comfortable and we still see him somtimes in his new place, looking good. Unfortunately, our dog gondo, passed away last february and since then ginger didn't feel like coming home, he more like the left over foods from the table than the cat food and because we have a new big puppy, he didn't like, we seem him playing with another dog by the road in our neighborhood. So, it seems that he chose to be there now. My husband believe that it's better for our cats to live a full life and our ginger is a womanizer so, he goes everywhere. We have another cat with us, her name is tiny, she used to be a wild kitten with eye infection who took the liking in living underneath our van, she has been brought to us by another adult male cat, that's their life here. And perhaps, she know hard life is outside, she's the one who chose to stay with us, and she now talk like a human being, very loving now unlike before we first had her she was very scared that she would scratch and bite, very pierce but she want to be taken care of. Now, her and our new pup, that is a mongrol, his name is spotty, are like family and will play with each other, she know that our puppy is only a pup so she sometimes even going to feed him from her bowl of food, it was funny... and spotty would lick her and hug her like she is another dog. What a family hehehe. Your cats seems to love very much, that's good. You must get a lot of joy from them as we do with ours. have fun more!

You have quite a few pets there and lots of love it sounds like. I talked to my animals too, tell them hello when I come home and goodbye when I leave. I live alone so they are a lot of company for me.

I think Freddie would walk on a leash. I wish I lived in a better neighborhood so I could try it. Isn't it wonderful to have such a friendly cat.

We had a cat who loved our dog so much. She didn't play with her brother and sister because she liked the company of our dog more. I'm not sure if that qualifies her as a 'dog' cat but she was uncommon so she easily became my mom's favorite.

Yes my Tigger is a "dog" cat. When he was younger he would chase a ball down the hall and bring it back to you. Now he follows you around and sits at your feet when you are at the computer. He likes having his belly rubbed. He also will sit on the side of the tub while you are taking a bath and doesn't mind being petted with wet hands. We found him when he was a kitten and wouldn't trade him for anything.

i don't have a "dog" cat. But i honestly have a "cat" dog. I swear!!!HE often cleans his face the way cats do. my mom said maybe he's that way because we don't have other dogs and that we have a lot of kitties at home. he loves eating fish and he fights other kitties with his paws, too.

I currently have 2 cats. One is a "CAT"! The other is a "dog" cat. Russell acts so much like a dog that he even plays "fetch" with his balls.

Yep, I definitey have a dog cat. His name is Humphrey and he's the cat in the Avatar. He actually has his chair that is right beside mine at the computer so he can sit beside me. (He's a large cat and I felt bad he had to squeeze in beside me when I only had one chair). He used to meet me at the door of the car and walk into the house with me but since we no longer let the cats out, he has to wait at the inside door. He always sleeps at the foot of my bed. He's very jealous of things like books that tend to get between me and him but he has pretty good manners and just nudges them aside a little bit. Mostly, he just follows me around from morning to night when I'm in the house and I love him like crazy.

Aren't they sweet? Freddie waits for me by the door too. Freddie must like the stretch of carpet by my computer just fine cause that is where he sleeps while I am working. Every once in a while he will nudge me at the computer to say hey its time for some me time!

I had a cat that my cat disliking friends liked because she was so dog like. I used to walk around the circle with The Doctor, and he'd stay by me - of course, if he had wanted to he'd've taken off, but he was really good about coming when I called.

My friend who doesn't like cats likes Freddie too. Isn't it funny how different a cat's personality can be?

Well I don't know if I would call my Kissy a dog cat, but she's definitely a "velcro" cat. Her personality has changed drastically ever since my Pyewacket passed on April 19th. She was always a timid cat and in many ways, as much as I loved Pyewacket to pieces, he was a bully to her. He hated me giving any attention to Kissy. If I was talking to her, no matter where he was (even sound asleep somewhere) as soon as he heard me talk to her, he'd come running over and literally push her out of the way. Now that she's numero uno she hardly leaves me alone. She has to "escort" me to the bathroom, keeps me company in the bathroom while I take a bath, often hops up on the computer desk and gets between me and the keyboard and monitor, in which I can't do a thing, she also talks a lot more. While I'm sitting watching TV she sits alongside me...and on and on...the change is almost funny. I'm hoping to adopt a new kitty fairly soon....wonder how she'll react? Maybe she'll be a "bully" the way Pye was?????

Who knows? But that sounds a lot like my Freddie. Sets by me and watches TV, follows me around even to the bathroom and side in between the two shower curtains while I take a shower. It is funny the way cats react to each other isn't it. None of my cats get along but I don't think any of them bully each other, at least not over my attention.
