Drew Barrymore's new movie, Going The Distance, is all about a couple who are involved in a long distance relationship. It got me wondering if there is an increase of long distance relationships. Now that we have the technology to instantly meet and contact people across the nation and even across the globe, do you think the possibility of long distance relationships has increased in the past decades?
Do you think long distance relationships can last? I know two that resulted in marriages. (In both instances, the woman moved to where her husband is right after the wedding). Are these relationships the exceptions in your opinion?

I think it all depends on what you both want out of a relationship, if you realy wanna spend rest of ur life tog, then i belive the few years that you will be away from each other is nothing compared to the many years you can spend tog.If i go abroad, and i leave i gal whom i truly love, i will make sure i invite her over when the right time comes, ve seen many go through this, n r very happy now,

I've had a long distance relationship once. It didn't turn out pretty great. They say it's trust that matters but she was always suspicious of me of cheating on her but i'm really not. I've remained loyal to her but she just couldn't see that so we decided to go on a break and that's it.

I think they can last. My relationship is more or less long distance nine months of the year while I finish up school. We do pretty well- technology does help. We chat online and text each other constantly. My sister's boyfriend lives nowhere near our home or her school. They see each other for a few days every three or four months. They skype each other almost every night. So far both have lasted quite a bit of time. I think long distance relationships work out when both parties are willing to make it work and trust each other.
