I am tired of my 'spell checker'

It is quite upsetting that every second word that I type so to say gets a red line making me wonder if I have spelt the word wrongly. Just this morning I typed the word 'humour' and there it had a red line. 'Humour' is the correct spelling of this word. No doubt funny poems are written about Spell Checkers - http://www.slinkycity.com/the-spelling-checker.html but when it comes to serious writing it can hamper our speed. How do you handle this. When you know you have spelt the word correctly and still you see a red line do you check it or carry on. I carry on!

Which spell checker are you using? I set mine to use British dictionary as default, so I do not get a red line whenever I type a word correctly according to the British spelling rules.

rosdimy! Can I change mine to British dictionary? I prefer standard English spelling to American English but I don't know if I can change this.

How do I go about doing it rosodimy? Mine must be the American version which is built into Windows XP I think. Even I go by the British spelling rules and that is how I was brought up.

I only type in the word document, and so far I am satisfied with its spell checker. If that tool is giving you a headache instead of any help, I suggest not use it instead. You can also consider changing it.
