I remember when I was a child, there were about 50 students in a class. My child will start to go to primary school on September this year. And today I know that there are 34 students in his class. I think the teacher will handle it well because not many students in a class.

Hi youless, here, all the people tend to send thier kids to school which are famous for their good reputation. And these schools are mostly located at the downtown area. Parents believe deeply that teachers in these schools are more professional and could educate their kids for getting excellent result. Thus schools in town area are always having the maximun number, 50 pulpils in a sigle class.
For convenience purpose, my son studied in a school which was nearest to our house. It's just 2 km away from downtown. And there were 45 or so pupils in his class. I noticed that most of the pupils from the famous schools were having tuition after school. Pupils here usually spend about 6 hours five days a week in school. They have thier respective extracurricular activities once in a week. To me an ideal class is the one less than 30 pupils per class, so that the teachers could take good care of every kid.
Happy posting and

I think the kids here are really lucky for they are free to study in primary and secondary school. This is to offer all the kids above six to enjoy the right of schooling. Parents will be accused if they are found never sending rightful child to primary school. This is the way to get rid of illiteracy in our country.
It means that we have different systems of education in our country.
It's worth to pay more for having good learning environment and management for our kid I suppose. I hope your son enjoy his first primary school life which will begin in the coming September. It's still more than a couple weeks to go. Here I would like to send my best wishes to him

Thanks for the BR marked youless.
I believe at the moment you are quite busy preparing all the stationary, needed, school uniform, shoes, school bag, etc for your son to start his initial schooling life. don't forget to take as much pictures of your son as your could, and see how perky and smart he would be, in his brand new uniform

When I went to school in India, there were 50 of us in a class and in Kuwait, it was around 30 in a class.
When my kids started school, in their school there are not more than 20 in a class in kindergarten and not more than 25 in the classes from first to tenth grade. In the kindergarten, there are 2 teachers for a class of 20 and in the higher classes, it is 1:25.

Hello youless. I am glad to know that this lovely boy of yours is going to study at primary school this coming September. It is both a challenge to your and your son. He will have to face many peers of his in the same class and in some other classes. It is not bad that there are more than thirty pupils in the class. My son's was always big since the time when he went to school till high school, almost always sixty or more students in his class. I don't think that it is a good idea for the school to have such a big class as it is difficult for the teachers to control such a big class. The smaller a class, the better and the easier for the so-called quality-oriented education. I have to say that your son is lucky not to be in a big class. I wish he would enjoy his study in the primary school. Have a wonderful life and time, youless.

When I was in primary school, there were 48 student in my class, 29 boys and 19 girls. The most crowded class was my junior middle school, 84 student studied in one classroom. We even didn't have enough space to give one desk per student, five students shared four desks at that time.

Before anything else, I would like to congratulate you for thinking of quality education for your child. I am sure he will enjoy going to school.
During my grade school and high school years, we were about 40 students in a class. It was considered a big number then as some schools only have about an average of abotu 30. When I was in the university, we were only 15 in a class. that made it difficult for as aswell as our professors can see us all the time and we cannot hide and avoid recitation haha. Anyway, I think the ideal is about 30 students...so I guess your son is luck to have 34 in his class. Here in our country, our public schools now have about 70 in a class. Sessions are made in 3 shifts to accommodate the growing number of enrollees. With this number, I am sure the quality of education they are getting are somewhat low since their teachers cannot monitor the performance of each student anymore.

hi youless my son is grown now but when he wass in primary class many years ago here in California the classes were about thirty with a teacher and an assistant, now the classes arelarger andits harder for the teachers to really help the students. our governor was behind that
change of class size. i know a lot of young parents are unhappy with the
larger classes as the teacher cannot really do as good a job with so many more to teach.

Hi,
My son is currently under Nursery Class and there
are about 30 students overall range from 1.5 - 3 ++ years old.
They mixed all the kids together, boys and girls.
Of course, to handle small kids, they need to have few teachers to
takecare of them. This school have about 7 teachers to handle the
small kids.
Next year, my son will be going to Pre-Kindergarten and Hope he can cope
well in his new class.

I think in a private school there are about 25-35 students, but in a public was 50 students in every class.
So for 34 students in a class I think their adviser could handle it very well, so don't worry. Have a nice day.

In my time there were around 25 students per class. But in 1 room we are sharing with other class, since it is a public school. The teachers then can handle he class because the kids then were no that naughty. In my kid's class they only accept a maximum of 25 students which is good because I believe the teacher cannot handle kid's behavior nowadays. is only good that they have set limit for every class.

In my class there was 27 students, i remember all names, even it was 5 years ago.
At that time we was playing outside, and didnt sit down on computer as we all do now. Until few years ago, i wasnt in touch with most of my class, but since Facebook become popular all around the World, i managed to find 25 (including me) people from my Elementary School class. That is not bad, is it?
