Would you rather take a rest, or work menially?

Here is a question, and I knew exactly my friend won't do it. My friend has been off work for quite a year already. He couldn't find another desirable job as he wanted. So, right now he is dependent on his mom. There are jobs out there as I ask around for him, but might not match his standard. Those jobs are kind of menial work, more focus on physical labor, but at least making some money temporarily. He refused it no doubt. So, would you rather stay home taking a long break, or would you mind continue work, but work menially than before, at least making some money to pay for the bills?

That is what I am talking about. It won't be matter if it is a job. It would be temporarily, and it is not forever. You can do whatever you can to make it work, and pay for the bill is the priority.

Finding work that you desires is hard especially in this time of the economic crisis. But I'd rather have menial/labor jobs than to stay home and do nothing all day. Think about would you feel akward to your mom who keeps on feeding you at your age, then again to repay her you have to do some chores at home so that you won't feel ashamed right. So hear this why don't you just do the menial job that gets paid than the chores at home right?

I admit I would be choosy at first. However, if it had been a year since I am out of work and I am dependent on someone, then I guess I would gladly take even menial work. Firstly, I have to help pay the bills. Secondly, I think I would go crazy just hanging around and not having any money for myself.
Have a nice day!

there is no glory without sacrifice. Maybe its not your time yet , but eventually , this menial jobs might lead into something better for him in the future. Its called trials in life , if you can pass this one test , i'm sure another test may come easier for you. Don't take this menial jobs as if you can't depart from it, its just a phase in life you have to undergo . So take a positive attitude , and be humble it doesn't mean you have a menial job that you are less human or less good.

I don't like to be dependent on other people, and when I need money I will take almost any job that I can find. I don't mind cleaning or delivering newspapers or something like that, and I have had that kind of jobs in the past. Yes, that kind of jobs are not especially interesting or challenging, but that is okay. If I can't find the kind of job that I am interested in, I think it is better to do something else for a while instead of having no job at all. I have rent and bills to pay, and a boring job is better than no job at all in my opinion.

Well, in my part I rather to stay at home taking a long break and also think how to earn money online. Unfortunately, It feels good to have a free time with my family its because I'm just stay in my home. Last month I work as a corporate administration officer in a mall. And I observed in my situation, I have no time to my husband and my 2 kids so it doesn't sounds good. So, after for how many days, I decided to resign my job and I'm always think of mined that I really care with my family, and now I am so happy that I'm just stay at home and time with my family. As of now I always think how to earn money online, I hope I can make it.

I would take any job that comes along. I figure that some money is better than no money at all. I am out of work, but instead of looking for work I have decided to pursue a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education. My husband works for a boss who has no respect for my husband and cheats him out of pay and hours. My husband is a vet and had gotten hurt during basic training. As a result there have been two occassions in the two years he has worked there that he has needed a day off to drive to the VA hospital. The first time my husband told his boss that he needed to go to the VA hospital his boss refused, but after calling the VA to cancel the VA asked why and my husband told the VA that his boss refused to give him the day off to go to the appointment, the VA called his employer and said, look if someone makes an appointment for the VA a Veteran is entitled to get the day off. An employer cannot refuse. My husband is not allowed to take days off when he is sick, but yet other parttime employees are allowed to. My husband gets treated badly and yet he is stuck.

Yup friend rather than staying alone in house and depending on others, we should do some work where we can share our house rent and we can survive independently without depending on anyone. I too also the samething before i use to search for a job and i didn't get even a single job for 3 years!!!! and i didn't worry about that also because my friend was taking care of me but now when he left me then i came to know whats the value of MONEY and now i am working and i am independent and i am paying my rent and i am managing all type of works.

Maybe work menially to safe money and also paid off bills.Nowsdays economic is not so good and still shakby even after stable.Hence need to work and safe money.Sometime cannot safe need to used also.Hence he who don work don eat.So better work , atleast menially is still working.Rather work to earn bread to eat.how to survive without work? Cannot use up all the saving during no work. Then no money to buy coffin.

If i don't have some bills to pay,i prefer to have a long break. And it's hard to define "menially".but if you don't depend on yourself when you are grown, still depend on your family, you are not qualified to choose menially work or not!you should be shame on depending on others as an adult.

I have a friend just like that. Before he used to have no work. He was living on his own and I don't know where he gets the money he would spend for food and transportation. Maybe from his girlfriend and other friends. He didn't finish college that's why it was hard for him to get a job. He wouldn't go for menial jobs. He said he was better than that. So it took him a long time to get a job. If I were in his situation, I would go for menial jobs. I don't intend for it to be a permanent job but at least it will pay the bills. And who knows, maybe if I was good at that job I would get promoted and get a better paying job.
