I am not sure whether this will help you or not even though it solved mine.
Sometimes, especially with new installation, Opera takes a long time to load a page. From experience there are two ways to get around this issue.
1) Stop the loading process, then press the reload button. This works most of the time.
2) Stop the loading process, exit the browser, then restart it. So far I have to do this once when step (1) failed.

You can do the common procedure in enhancing the browser's speed. That is, regular cleaning or deleting of cookies, histories and download histories. Or the most effective procedure is, contact your internet provider and upgrade you're connection. LOL.
