As someone who practices wicca and someone who has firm belifs in the wiccan relgion, spirituality and faith, I find it very insulting when people say that wicca is dangerous, or evil or anything negative in that way.
Or when people refer to witches and curses in that way.
Or even worse when the confuse people who are wiccan and those who practice satanism!
These are two very very very different religions!
Satanism has the devil and evil workign through it while wicca is just nature! Nature!!!!
We respect nature and palnts and gods and goddess from all relgions. We belive ing ood and taht everythign you do evil (and good) willc ome back 3 fold to you.
I feel like people need to be further educated in tehse matters so as not to insult people...but really, how likely is THAT to happen.

This really bugs me too. I'm not Pegan or Wiccan but I am interested in witchcraft and want to know more, I am a firm believer in the supernatural/paranormal and I do have some pychic abilities. I don't belive in God and when I have discussed this with religious people it's amazing and shocking how many times someone has turned around and called me a devil worshipper! They wouldn't like it if I called them names for there beliefs would they?
I think that when society asks us to be more understanding and tolerent of other people and there cultures etc, it should be actively encouraged to include those of us that are Pegan, Wiccan, psychic or believe in the supernatural.

Well, there are lots of people out there that like to open their mouths before thinking or without really knowing what they are talking about. As longest people don't do a little research on certain matters, this is likely to happen. I read a few books, things about Wicca and it's a very beautiful way to live your life. Just ignore the rest that have no clue as to what Wicca is all about.

I am not Wiccan, but this bothers me too. I despise ignorance, especially when it incites malice. People think the same things about Paganism, which is especially funny when it comes from a Christian since they stole the Pagan calendar. haha. Yes, sadly these stigmas surrounding witches goes waaay back. Greedy leaders have always used fear as a tool of control. They made people fear witches and the craft and then accused anyone who weren't Christian or who went against them of witchcraft, even when that wasn't the case.
I definitely agree with you in that people need to be further educated. The world would be a lot more peaceful and a lot better off if people would actually be willing to learn and listen to all sides instead of believing everything they hear, and learn to accept others who's beliefs are different than theirs instead of judging people.
However, I disagree with you on one thing. From your last sentence I gather that you don't believe that the world can change and become more accepting and educated. The world is progressing in this way every day. Now witches don't get burned at the stake. Now women can vote in many countries. Slavery is outlawed in many places. One day, gays will be able to marry. We have internet, so people can read up on any topic they want. It's a slow process, but we are constantly growing. I believe that this world will see world peace.
What we can do to make this happen is educate people as much as we can. Many won't be willing to listen, but some will, even if we can change only one person's mind, we are making a great difference. That one person may one day have children and raise them with a love for knowledge and a loving heart. Namaste. :)

in my oppinion, the reason why they treat us wicca like that is they just dont know the difference between wicca and a satanist and the wicca's witchcraft and the satanic witchcraft. but if we took the time to explain thing they might absorb it and look upon us in a brighter way.
blessed be

As was previously mentioned people fear what they don't understand. People also like to try to sound educated by discussing matters they really don't know anything about. there are actually some positive aspects to satanism, but people always overlook those and can't be bothered to look further into something they think is unsavoury. that's the wonder of human ignorance.
