Tags why?

With the help of this tags, u could understand the discussion much better without reading many posts posted under the discussions.. This is also used for some identification purposes.. Mention some of the tags and u will find the most rated discussion with the tags u have mentioned..

Tags are what you use to get people to look at your blog, if you put tags in your blog entries about what the subject of your blog post is, it is more likely that when someone does a blog search for your subject that they will find your blog entry and read it.

Tags play a vital role in both blogging and in mylot. While searching an item in mylot they first checks for tbe tags and then to the content. So by giving the tags make your post more exposed to the viewers. It also provides a better search result for the user search. If a post is without any of the tags then the probability of the post appearing in the search result will be so low or can be told as they won't appear though. So try to add as much of the tags while you blog or mylotting. That will definitely help you in many ways.

well .. TAGS are meant to highlight the main topics of a particular discussion.. for example if are talking something like TCP/ip of internet ..u will tag TCP?IP .. so people who are looking for TCP/IP related queries can easily have access to this discussion and thus save time

Ditto what the other two said. Think of tags here as the same as any other tags in any other forums or even simply as the "meta tags" a/k/a keywords, that you would add to a website. They're very helpful!

Tags on blogs and here work the same way it is so that when you perform a search you can find discussions for the keywords. Now if only the search tool bar worked right here then the purpose for tagging would be understood best.

Tags have exactly the same use here that they do on blogs or after articles. They help people find what you've written when they're doing a search. I can't tell you how many times I've found topics in New Discussions or elsewhere on Mylot that didn't show up in my interests. If your post is about writing, then writing should be one of the tags. If you're talking about a website, then the name of the site should be one of your tags. Every tag you use should be relevant to the topic because you never know how people are going to search. Give them as many ways as possible to find your discussion, your blog post, your article -- whatever.
