why men hate shopping... do you agree?

I've noticed this from all sorts of people... like me, i barely buy stuff for myself and when i do, i have this list in the back of my mind about what to get, what i need and what i want. like if i need a new pair of shoes, i go to the mall, go to my fave brand of shoes which is the Chuck Taylor, buy it then go home. I've asked some male friends of mine and 9 out 10 is they do the same thing. Women on the other hand is a little uhm... "annoying" (sorry, Ladies). like my girlfriend yesterday, she wanted to buy a new bag, some tees and a pair of flip-flops. so the same process begins but with a little twist, we go to the mall... she goes to this silver jewelry shop and buys a new pair of earrings then go to the store that sells all kinds of stuff that's for the face and body, buys some then go to the salon to get her hair done and after that, the bag, the tees and the flip-flops. women have all sorts of detours inside the mall. their wants just seems to pop-up every time they see something... and by the way the new bag, the tee and the flip-flop should be of the same color. you can't imagine how any boutiques we have to go to just to get the right color. it's been like this for more than 6 years! geeez...
but we love them don't we, boys? :)

I agree with this one, although I'm not saying that I hate shopping, but girls just do it in a different way that it becomes annoying and impractical. Yeah, it's in them, I'm just thankful my girl is not that vain. (smiles) She only buys what she needs! And if she does want something, she doesn't go all bananas over it, she just waits for the opportunity. Women also can't make up their mind as fast as guys do, that love to hang around more. (laughs)

well.. It girls who are more on the fashion side.. Men usually look for comfort than fashion.. and moreover..Shopping is a girls affair in most case.. and guys hate to do it.. :P

I am a man, I like shopping when alone, I dislike shopping for some things with women because they are poor shopper. I know what I want, get the best price and don't waste time

Hi jamuls,
I think some men do like to shop, they just don't like to shop with women. Women are bouncers when we shop. Our intentions were to go to a particular store to purchase something we want or need. As we stroll through the mall, we window shop. Sometimes we even detour into the store with no intentions of purchasing anything, wasted time. Doing this several time before we get to our designated store, hoping to find the item that we want. If we don't find the item in the mall, we have not problem driving to another store at another mall.
When the shopping trip is over, several shopping bags come out of the car, maybe not of it is what we went out to get. we realize that we have actually been to several different stores at different locations. So, we bounced from this store to the next store. Heaven help the man who is brave enough to go shopping with one of women or a daughter.
I don't think we would have to look long and hard to find a

I hate shopping with my wife, it really winds me up, as soon as we get in to the shops I just can't help myself, I sulk like a little boy. She takes ages and she usually buys the first thing she's tried on, but instead of buying it there and then we have to travel to all other shops and try clothes on to see if anything is better, then go back to the first item and buy it. I hate it. Luckily these days she doesn't ask me anymore. Job done.

Hi, jamuls. My husband likes shopping when we go as a family to loo for things for our home. But he does like to stay so long when I go grocery shopping at all. He will wait in the car while I shop. He says that he likes to go in the store and come out. It takes him no time to get what he wants from the store.

Heard of this many times and we cant change them either.Women are damn difficult to understand and it takes a life time if you start researching.better to go with the demands and wants than to think of anything else lol.I wouldn't pose any restrictions on my girl friend though....prefer to carry a couch(can be handy if its too late in the night

Hi,
Men heats shopping because, women take too much of time to purchase a single item..
for ex. I went to shopping with my girl friend once to purchase a Saree(Indian dress for women) to her. For a single Saree she took 5 hours to select.
I had never wasted my 5 hours of time to purchase a single dress..
That's the reason why men hate shopping particularly with women...

Nope friend every boys or every men won't hate shopping. Some of them don't want to go outside because they may not interest in that. It depends on the person. If person is busy from the morning itself, then he will get tired in the evening then afterwards it will difficult for him to go for shopping. Some times even the person is free then also he won't agree to go for shopping. May be because of his laziness or he won't interest in shopping. Every one is having their own reasons and excuses.

i don mind shopping, but girls see stuffs differently than men.Maybe men see things by funtionals and needs, while girl see things like color,texture,fashion,and such.
Sometime if we do grocesires will ask gf to tag along, if gf wants to buy shoes and such, i rather sit at the beach outside the shop or malls.Sometime if i am paying then , i tag along and she will dress up for me to see ask for opinion which is ok.
Sometime she is buying herself then i rather smoke a pack outside.But we do see movies together.Both of us like action movies and some special movies like Inception or SALT or toy story.

this is my perspective of shopping. When i was single i didnt shop a lot as men have no varities for shopping. But when i met my wife she was a shopoholic and had to spend hours with her for shopping which i never used to do before. A sudden change in life does create problems. I too faced a lot of problems with this attitude of hers. But i could see the smile on her face and then i decided to do something that makes her happy....shopping. I still dont like shopping, but i like to see her enthisiasm when she does shopping.

Hello there! I love shopping. Men wants to shop as well but as splurge as what women does. The kind of clothes for sophisticated men are already three times the price of what women bought for themselves so It really is not obvious that men also want to have a shopping spree for themselves. And I would like to add that most men really doesn't want to spend for themselves regarding clothes and accessories but to have a drinking spree with their mates. So it really doesn't show that men wants to shop as much as the girls want to.

hi there! not that i hate buying for myself, i just don't like the idea of spending too much for fashion. to splurge on these things is very impractical for me. i'd rather spend my cash on food than buying a new pair of jeans which i still don't need. :) by the way, i don't drink. :)

Ah, women and shopping. In all actuality I have known a lot of women that don't shop excessively. Like my ex Liz - the woman likes one color, one brand, and she stuck to them like nothing else. Though the majority of women I know, admittedly, have this habit of going in to shop for one thing and coming out with much more than what they originally wanted. :/ Still, I agree with the comments that say it isn't fair to generalize.
After all, I've done it on a few occassions - particularly when it comes to games. Food as well, I love to cook and if there's an awesome sale going on... well, let's just say my wallet is taking the hit. Women especially seem to love sales, at least the ones I know. Often time it seems like it doesn't matter what it is - if it's attractive to them and on sale it will be theirs. Either by their wallet or somebody else's (like mine.)
But yes - we still love them anyway. Luckily I'm like Liz - I have few brands I care to shop for, so I don't end up spending a lot of my money. Probably why I never really care how much my girl shops so long as she keeps what she buys for more than 24 hours. :P

because men are practical, they only get to go to a mall when needed to buy something, and before buying they already know what to buy, not unlike the general girls that love to window shop and explore all possibilities before buying.

i don't think men hate shopping, it's just that men have a different way of shopping. like what you've said, men have it in there heads what they will buy for the day. for us women, we want to canvass for prices, explore the mall to see the biggest deals and watch out for sales. the lower the price, the better :) sometimes, shopping becomes an outlet whenever we feel depressed. it gives us women a sense of fulfillment whenever we get to buy something that's a steal for its quality. we have so much to choose from that it's even hard for us to decide what to buy whenever we shop :)

I agree with you, my last girl friend was exactly like yours in terms of shopping attitude. Although the only reason is to buy one specific thing it leads to a tiring mall walk through. She never go to the mall without visiting her favorite apparel boutique and having a coffee break in starbucks right after.

I don't like to go shopping either. It's kind of wasting time for me wondering and looking some stuff around. When I do my shopping, it will be the time when I wanted to buy what I want and straight go back home. But, when I was still in a relationship, I enjoy accompanying my ex-gf shopping. Wondering what are they thinking and their choice of stuff. The experiences teaches me of what women want and the conversations of picking and choices kind of enjoying to me. It's a good way to enjoy moments with your loved one, but when being myself, I really don't like shopping.

Shopping definitely is the best moment in women's life , I love go out for shopping with myself or my bubby , that only need walking? seeing and enjoying ...
Maybe it's good to maintain and nurture friendship and marriage bonds by doing this activity.
