high graduates can be productively employed even without a college degree once two years is added to basic education- say DepEd. The education in chief recently announced his plan to implement president noynoy agenda of increasing the basic education cycle from the current ten years to twelve years. Do you think the new program will be a very good idea since the department of education is currently facing major problems such as lack of classrooms, books and teachers?

First of all, if they really want to offer a better future for the kids then the gov't should first provide the needs of the children like, enough classroom, better chairs, individual books and enough quality teachers. they should not add burden to the parents as well as for themselves. If kids have enough chairs and more comfortable classroom then they might have better interest to give attention to their studies. Children get tired of borrowing books and photocopying the books just to learn. so they should try to offer enough books atleast. Those who are really industrious get to overcome the hardship but there are some who just pass by the fact that they go to school and learn half of what they should. Government should offer QUALITY EDUCATION and not QUANTITY of years in education. If they are saying that it's only our country that has lower years of education then I should say that this is only the country that produce if not best but atleast better workers all over the world not only in skill workers but also professionals regardless of the standard say. We should not just follow what the world has for a standard, we should see, that people adjust and cope with what they have regardless of what standards dictates, then gov't should try to match it by what we have and what can do as for resources, not by looking with other countries' standard. This country has a lot of bright students who wants to achieve and breakthrough poverty, Govt should just support these kids by providing them quality education and their needs.

i don't think adding more years in education will solve the problem in our quality of education, they missing out the real problem, the real problem is the lack of classroom for everyone not enough rooms, books, chairs, and pretty much everything that we need to improve the quality of our education. and whats the main reason why were having this huge problem? almost half of our national budget every year is for education but how come there still student sharing the same book? or 1 classroom for 2 sections? because in my opinion those corrupt in our government those who always put themselves first before other those who are people created this whole mess.. lets face it we don't have a strong political will to implement policy to hi standard quality education... adding more years means more budget needed and that means more money to corrupt..!

students in public schools in metro manila have shift schedules due to classroom shortage. Where will they accommodate those who will stay for 2 years more? If there's anything that should be improved that should be the quality of education our student are getting. As more and more students put a strain on the effectiveness of the teachers, adding 2 years more is not going to do any good. It will still be the same noisy students who can't hear each other due to the noise or the distance from his teacher. That's why private schools are more effective, it isn't because of the number of years that a student has to stay in school but a private school teacher can focus more time on each student during class.

i don't think that would be a good idea. they will just add another 2 years of pain especially for parents who really cant afford to send their children to school. why not focus more on producing good and competent teachers, allocating a much bigger funds for education especially for rural and public schools.

In your avatar you look like a student. Well students will really not agree to this. But this is good for them. It is like practicing more before the main event. And the more you practice the more you perfect the routine. But what's the use of practicing if you can learn more.

for me, that is a big waste of time and money. prolong the high school or grade school? I wasted my time in my schooling because they repeated subjects in my first 2 years in the university.

I also think that way,,, the department of education should learn to delete or detect the redundancy of the different subject... I think they must prioritize what the studentry is in need with.

I always hear these increase in school education, If Pnoy whats to be really Famous, instead of increasing the levels, lower it to 8 years, of at least give us choices where we want our KIDS to pursue the 12-10-8 years plan. I say if we can start them working earlier it would be beneficial to our Country. PNOY--- I have three Kids, one kid expenses for the whole achool years is P50k so we just multiply that by 3 (for my three kids) multiply again by 2 for the additional 2 years. the Answer is 300k additional expenses. Mr Pres. Pnoy Can you multiply that with the number of children that will be affected by your crazy idea.

I favor to this. It is not a waste of time since students will be studying. If you are not doing anything then that is a waste of time. But for now it is not the main solution to the deteriorating quality of education in the Philippines. The DepEd should be analyzing first the problem of education in the country before putting any solutions. The problem in the educational system are: 1. corruption 2. lack of teachers 3. lack of classrooms 4. lack of teachers training and knowledge enhancements 5. lack of encouragement to teachers. Teachers are earning less so they tend not to work hard. (Well not all teachers, most of them where martyrs of their career) They event resort to other ways of earning like selling products in school. 10 years is enough to nurture our students. So for now adding another 2 years is not necessary. What's necessary is the people who runs the educational system of this country.
