When you face a problem, where do you turn first?

I read a story about a teacher who asked his class this question: "When you are in trouble, what do you most often do first?" He gave then three answers from which to choose:
1. TAKE CARE OF IT YOURSELF.
2. CALL A FRIEND AND TALK IT OVER.
3. ASK GOD FOR HELP.
Only two people in the class of 45 indicated that they prayed first. Most of them choose number 1. Several choose number 2. My guess is that these responses are typical.Too often, prayer is not our first response to trouble. WE may try to figure out a solution by ourselves using our own skills or financial resources. When none of that helps we finally get around to praying. I believe that prayer should be our first response not our last resort....

Yes i agree with you. When I have a problem, I always turn to the Lord. Because I do believe in HIM, he is the source of everything.

That is a good point. Prayer should be our first response that is why every day when i wake up I thank God for the blessing of living for another day and ask God to watch over me and to Give me the knowledge and strenght to go through the day doing his will. After that, the rest is up to me.

I pray first usually. i believe it's powerful than anything else ever. then go find some solution with God's guidance. i seldom share my problem to people. i don't talk about it. if i do, it's as if i'm making it a joke to others. i'm not serious talking to others especially if it's problem..

The first thing I did was to call His attention likes He is my friend here. The typical prayer we have is to go to the church and prayed to God asking for help. But me have a different style that makes it easy to carry a big problem is front of me. I treat Him as He is my friend that always present in front of me alive. i talked to Him and told all the problems and on how we He and both resolve the situation as we are planning. It sounds so crazy to talked alone but this help me to ease the heaviness and tensions that the problem may bring. I go first to my friend and that is HE my God forever.

Prayer in theory is great. If you believe in it. Our belief systems are so different across the globe that is no wonder that most people wouldn't choose prayer first. The saying of "God helps those who help themselves" could also be the reason a majority lean to option 1. TAKE CARE OF IT YOURSELF.
Support networks are a good reason to call a friend and talk it over, but ultimately no one answer is right. #1 perfect for those who want to be self sufficent, independent and refuse to get knocked over. #2 perfect for all who have a good network and are unsure of how to handle a problem they are having at that time. #3 perfect for those who believe in the power of prayer and have a good basis in a religious belief that uses prayer.
I guess if you have all 3 standards for your situation, you are in a great position. It would be great to call a friend and start a prayer circle, and then do what you need to do to take care of it in your best compacity.

If we can do it ourselves, why bother others or God?God gave as the ability to think so we can use it.We can not just depend everything on Him. If that is what He wanted us to do then he shouldn't have given us freewill.God is giving us trials to be stronger, and if we can't overcome that trial then He will help us.

yes, i agree with you. prayer should be the fist thing to do when you have a problem. i do it often and then talk with my loved ones or friends. i dont really share my problems with strangers or people who arent close to me. soemtimes you have to reflect and meditate makes you feel relaxed and think clearly of the solutions to the problems you are facing.

it depends, if the problem is simple and easy i will take care of it myself. But if its something i can't handle i'll call out to God, and let God fight my battle, which often results to me fighting it wiser and stringer. Sometimes, even after i call out to God, there are times that i still call my friends and share them the burden inside my heart. Because most often our friends are sent by God to help us overcome the challenge in our life that very moment.

I pray and talk to family members first. Then I speak to very close friends. If I'm really lost, I'll seek professional help.
