Hi everyone, I always wanted to have a touch screen computer, just thought the idea was great and that it will be more exciting and easier to use. And then I saw it being featured on TV and I got very excited. Who among here likes to have one? Do you have plans of buying anytime soon? I find it too expensive so I am just putting it on my wish list..

I think having an iPad is cool and nice... but only if you like to show-off.
I guess a laptop or a tablet-PC is still much better. For several reasons:
1) a tablet-PC can either make use of the screen as means of input... but if you need to do some serious typing job... then you can still make use of the keyboard. attaching a USB keyboard to iPad is possible but it's not a good idea, actually, it's an awkward idea.
2) a tablet-PC is much more protected, meaning, whenever it is not in-use, the screen is well protected, unlike iPad wherein the screen is always exposed and prone to scratches.
3) a tablet-PC is less expensive. or not? but either way... at least with a tablet-PC you have more choices and more brands to choose from.

I made this suggestion because I was planning to buy an iPad too. But it was a good thing that my friend let me borrow his iPad for a day. I was able feel if it was actually something practical to buy instead of a laptop or tablet-pc.

i don't like this one. ive read lots of article about it and it's not feasible for me compared to having a laptop or desktop. for me, it's only good for slideshow and good for reading but not too long -- it'll hurt your wrist 'cause it's a little heavier. if i were you, buy a laptop. just an advise.

I don't want an I-Pad. I think they are useless to be honest. It's like they are just the screen on a laptop turn off. They aren't any smaller than a laptop. They are expensive. They have actual laptops out - that came out BEFORE the ipad, that let you use touch.. you just have to make sure the feature is available. They also have desktops that have touch ability.
I also find touching numbers/letters etc is time consuming. It's so much faster to just use an actual keyboard.

Hi, yes I also think touch screens are time consuming. I always get aggravated when I use my husband's cellphone. I hate that my hands are bigger than the touchpad. Urghh! I always have to erase because I always press the other key. But I just thought since IPAD is big enough then touching the letter pad is a lot easier thus less time consuming.

IT looked really cool when I saw it on T.V. It was mentioned on the news alot. Plus I have seen many people line up overnight just so they could get their hands on it. It would be really cool if I could get one. But they are just too expensive for me to buy now. I will have to wait a while for the price to go down before I decide to buy one.

Yah, it will surely go cheaper. Like Nokia Phones, you buy them new and they are expensive but a year goes by it's so cheap already... Hopefully this one too... Coz I will definitely buy one.

I've read a lot about the iPad, but decided it's not something I want. I'd like to have something I can carry in my purse and use whenever I have a few minutes, like waiting in a checkout line. The iPad is way too big for that, and it's also too expensive for my budget. I'm thinking about getting an iPod Touch, but only if the prices come down a bit. I want something that I can read ebooks on and do a bit of editing on a story I'm working on. There's supposed to be a new version of the Touch coming out sometime soon, so I'm hoping that will drive down the price of the older models a bit.

I am not going to get The Ipad yet as I feel the bugs are not out of it yet. I do love the idea of something that I can read an ebook without having to take more time to turb the pages as with my Iphone. Another two problems are the Ipad downloads sloweer then the iphone and it does not come with 4g yet.I will wait for another six months at tbe earliest, but may not get it tben. It depends on whether it has improved and whether I can use it to its best advantage.

One of my colleagues at work has the ne IPad and he let me use it for an hour a few days ago. I am not particularly keen on having one because I had problems using it. I have quite long nails and it was awkward for me to use it
Personally if I wanted a small one then I would prefer a netbook and not a touchscreen but I am happy that my colleague got one because he sold me his laptop, a Sony Vaio, as he didn't need it any more

I am not really interested in touch screen computers. They are just a fancy to me. I am sure it would be rather hard to multitask on such touch devices. As for now those touch screen computers( i won't call ipad a computer ) are not powerful and can't do the task i need them to perform and i am not sure about the heating issues. Ipad to me is just a huge iphone which i really don't like. I would rather have a computer, which is 10 times more powerful in computing with a price almost equal to the ipad gadget.

I would still prefer a laptop or a netbook over an Ipad. Ipad is too expensive with very limited capability. Just like what a poster here said. People buy the Ipad not for its functionalities but more on the prestige of owning one that goes with it. If i have the money i would certainly buy one myself but the thing is i don't so i'd rather settle for a netbook with far more better features and not as pricey.

My sister succumbed and bought one, and it is indeed a gorgeous and sexy bit of kit! But in terms of functionality, there are a number of bugs and limitations that the earliest adopters are paying the (high) price for - essentially they are beta testing a not-quite-ready bit of hardware, so far as I can see. Apple seem to make a habit of this...
I'll resist temptation and wait for the iPad 2 I think. Hopefully my clunky old netbook will last another year or two.
I do really want one though. I travel on business a lot between Spain and the UK and try to go cabin bag only for short trips. My netbook uses nearly a whole kilo of my Ryanair 10kg allowance! The iPad could realistically go in a big pocket...

I don't think getting an IPad is kind of worth for it performance. The design kind of ridiculous and kind of large for a hand held equipments. Even though the functionality is quite good but somehow for personal use, it might not fulfill the needs at the most. Better invest in a PCs or laptops.
