Friends, today I was cleaning my almirah and book shelves. I found lot of books, journals, and magazines, that I don’t need any more. The publishers of text books give us specimen copies each year at the season beginning. So there was a good collection.
I gave some of the books to the guys and girls, who live in my area and read in colleges. The rest along with magazines, journals I gave to the public reading room near my home, so that it will be of some use.
What you do with your old books, magazines, newspapers? Why not donate them?

That was great Paps! I love books, i love reading, when can you donate a book for me???? the old newspaper, when I am finished reading it we use it at home or we sell it to garage. My magazine has a sentimental value so I do not sell it. I do not give out my books too. Even those are just materials, I love it.

Great! Here where we live our old school textbooks, story books and magazines are donated to an agency which would have them recycled in an annual event where people from disadvantaged families are invited to pick whatever books they need free of charge. Our old newspapers normally go to the recycling bins around if there are not used at home.

It is very generous for you to donate some books to the public library. At least the books can be still useful for others. Normally I won't donate books because they are important for me. As to the old magazines and newspaper, I don't really think our libraries will accept these. So usually I just take it to the recycled place.

Hi, professor, it sounds so great!
As there is so few public reading rooms or similar places here, and we don't know how to donate books, I always sell those useless old books to salvage stations.
But I also keep good books in store! I hope I will donate old books to valuable things one day!

hello, prof! what is almirah?haven't heard that before.
but i remember when i was cleaning back then, when i had finished college, there are some books i don't really need, and we have decided to sell it to some who are also selling second hand books instead.i haven't tried donating books.but some of our neighbors once gave books to us,but then we don't need them,so it just turns to pieces used for cooking or burning dried leaves in front of our house.
newspapers we do sell them in garage.
i like magazines cause it can be made of artworks, even newspapers,my sister used them for paper mache stuffs then give it to her friends.she really is artistic when it comes to her friends.i really find her sweet.

Wow..It's nice to be able to share some of our things to others especially for those who are in need. I also used to donate some of my books in our organization when College. We put up mini library for those who wanted to do some reading during free times since our School Library is located in the 20th floor.

Hey Professor,
This is a noble thing that you have done. If I had books to spare, I would have loved donating them to a library here. Unfortunately here (at my city) there are not many Libraries and the ones that are available are run by Government.
As for older newspapers, we generally sell them off to the people who purchase them and make paper bags, envelopes and other paper items for re-sale. I think this way we are able to make some contribution towards the environment.

That's nice! I always loved to go to the public library when I was in my hometown but I dont get to do that now cause we dont have a public library here in the city and i really wonder why cause its a big city and even much bigger than my hometown but they dont have a public library. If I also have lots of books, i would like to donate it too. =)

I usually sell my useless books to second-hand book store. They recycle them at a price of RMB2.00 or less. But they don't buy some kind of books, then I'll go to the scrap yards, sell them as waste paper.
Local library? Actually it has no relation to me. I've been there, but didn't find any useful books.

Hi Professor,
I donate all my old books to charities like The Red Cross, Salvatiom Army, and many more. Newspapers are collected here for recycling. Mike.

When my children were in school and colleges, on their completion of the class, I used to give the text books to poor students. Magazines that I buy, after my reading, I give it to friends. I never put old clothes to the vessel giving person. I always donate to the needy.

I always donate mine to the charity shops around here. Recently we took a bag so heavy that the handles broke. I got rid of all my Psychologies magazines that I'd been stockpiling and a lot of books. They're just taking up space here, whereas elsewhere they can be doing some good.
Good for you I say!

hi professor as a person who worked in the local library for
years, I always donated some books I did not want to keep
like old class books from college. I have a lot of fiction
books in storage that make up my own library. Here I have a
few which I am going to take downstairs to our Gold Crest
library in hopes it will provide some new tales for our
readers here who want something new to read.

That is exactly what I do with my books and magazines. I give them to the library. If they can not use them on their shelves they sell them to earn money for their needs. There is generally a book sale once a month. That is where I get most of my books as well...
