Tomorrow is 13th of August and it falls on a Friday. That means the its Friday the 13th. When I was a kid, I was afraid of this day. Maybe it was because I once fell down twice within the same day and bruising each of my knees. From then on, I tried to be very careful on this day. Now, thou I am not afraid, still, I am on alert when it comes by. How about yourself? Do you take extra precaution or stay indoor on this day?

Hey sjlskl! I don't even pay attention to Friday the 13th! I
used to think of it as my "lucky day" kind of since all the
others days were so bad, this seemed like it could be lucky for
me instead! I have an all black cat and he is the sweetest cat
of all the cats I've ever had! I went out today with my bf/roomy
and we got all the errands done that we had to. I got a good
deal on a new Panansonic Two Cordless Phoneset that I have been
looking for, got new glasses and they were having a BOGO, which
was an incredible sale! I had a pretty great day!

Hi sjlskl, It's funny that I just saw your discussion because my wife was just talking about this being Friday the 13th. She doesn't like the day as she is superstitious about certain things. I don't pay any attention to such things and I'm not even sure that I did as a child because my parents weren't superstitious. Some bad things will happen to some people today just as it did yesterday and will tomorrow. I once had a black cat walk across my path as I was leaving for work on Friday the thirteenth. Nothing bad happened to me on that day either. Blessings.

I guess when I was younger it might have bothered me a bit and I may have been a little more cautious. But now that I am older I don't even think about it anymore. It's just another day to me and I don't even realize most of the time when it falls on Friday the 13th.
My daughter says it's a lucky day for her because the number 13 is her lucky number. I'm not sure why the number 13 is lucky for her and will have to ask her now that I think about it.

Its not that I'm scared of the day, its that my friends choose to do the most daring things on this day that normally wouldn't be a big deal, like going on one of the top 5 most dangerous roller coasters, or cliff diving from 125ft. I personally just try to stay away from anything that may be life threatening. So basically I sit inside my house all day watching movies.(:

when i was deciding my brothers engagement day...it was a friday and 13. He said that the day is not good and all protested. Then they chaged the day. I used to tell them " if you can change the date bcos it friday the 13th...then what about me. i was born on a friday the 13th.". and all of them were silent.

Ha ha :)) I', sorry Edward but that awkward moment is actually quite funny. People often speak without thinking and your relatives little slip is actually quite cute. You should've told them that because you're born on that day, you neutralize the bad luck with your own 13 :))
As i said in the general response, we are what we believe and if they believe it to be bad luck for them it's better they changed it than to expect their whole lives for something to go wrong. Because if you think it that way you practically program yourself to make things wrong. At least that's how i see it

It really does not make a difference to me...I consider it just a date and will have no effect on me or my personality. I like to take things positively....Cheers.

Every 13th I look out Why? Because I am either pi$$ed off for some reason or I drop things. Last Friday was not only Friday 13th but it was both Lefthander's Day And Hitchcock's birthday. This 13th is usually a good day.

Whilst I have had bad things happening to me on Friday 13th through my life, I have had far worse things happen to me when it wasn't Friday 13th. I feel that if we are warned to take care on Friday 13th, that very taking care means we are excpecting something bad to happen and become more accident prone, so many years ago I stopped being supersitious over such matters. _Derek

No, that's only a superstition, something forbidden (& nonsensical) to Orthodox Christians, just like "luck," a pagan concept.
I also love black cats (or any color cats...), & I've spilled salt & NOT pitched some over my shoulder, have no fear of the number 23, walked under ladders & broken many mirrors. And my life has been wonderful!
Friday the 13th is just another day on the calendar, nothing special. Don't worry. You have better things to do with your time.

Nothing bad ever happened to me on Friday the 13th before. Actually, last year, I had my last hearing for my disability case and I won! It took me seven years to be approved and I had two hearings before a Disability judge. I lost the first but the second, which was on Friday, February 13th, I was approved. So, I've thought Friday the 13th was actually a good day for me.
That's what I thought when I went to a spine surgeon's office today (Friday the 13th). I've been having pain, tingling and numbness in my right arm and hand for about four weeks now. I saw the surgeon last week and he took X-rays. After looking at the X-rays, he ordered an MRI of my neck. That was yesterday. Today, I went back to see the surgeon and he said, "I have bad news." I wasn't expecting that! I thought I might need surgery but I didn't expect to hear what he said.
He said he's normally a very conservative surgeon and operates only as a last resort. But, once he saw the films of the MRI, he told me he wants to operate as soon as possible. I have a severely herniated disc in my neck which has almost totally pinched off the nerve to my arm. I have very noticeable weakness in that arm which he told me is a sign of permanent nerve damage so he wants to operate before it gets any worse.
So, I no longer think that Friday the 13th is a lucky day for me. I don't think it's unlucky, either, though. It's just another day and you can have good luck, bad luck or anything in-between. I've had very good news and very bad news happen on that day so you just never know.

my office mate arrived in the office with a news that he lost his cellphone because some thief have entered his boarding house early morning of friday the 13th. the cellphone was two weeks old only and it was a very recent model, with tv, internet, camera, etc. he said it is a bad luck day.
but i myself on friday the 13th after taking the minutes in a board meeting with my employers, received a sleeveless blouse courtesy of my lady employer.
now who says friday the 13th is a bad luck day?
have a nice day.

To me, Friday the 13th is just another day. I think that sometimes if you think about it too much, you have things happen that are what normally might happen, but you BLAME it on it being the 13th. I DID tease my niece about not being sure I wanted to loan her my car today, since it was the 13th. She wasn't even aware that it was and just laughed.

Actually, I consider friday the thirteenth quite lucky..Being christian folk rather than occult (who do consider it unlucky) I know it as representing the 12 apostles and the Christ..Lucky 13..Enjoy!

Before I was afraid of this day because of what my cousins and sometimes my aunts / uncles would tell that usually happens on this day.
Now, I am not because I know we need to be extra careful all the time not only on this day.

It's just an ordinary day for me. When I was younger, I was really afraid of the movie Friday the 13th but I really don't believe that it's a bad day!
