Going back in time, respect played an important role in survival. If we think of a small tribe wandering in the desert, we can imagine that a person not respected by anyone could be left behind and die. Such a person was considered to have no worth, no importance, no value to the group.
This, I believe is the foundation of our psychological need to feel respected.

i do really agree with that!!
and what's more,i think being respected can give oneself the sense of presence, which is thghtly connected to one's confidence and faith.
if one have realized that he's attentioned by many individuals, whether liked or hated, there must be a great drive pushing him to advance!

Friend on those days people give value for the particular person who will be having respect who maintains the same through out their life time. But now it is changed now people are giving value for the money rather person's respect.
