Though not a Smoker Myself,I've grown up with family who smoked (My grandparents were still smoking in their Mid 80's before they passed away) and have cousins who've taken it up despite their parents having quit around the time they were born..I just wanted to ask what the habit is worth to You? I've known smokers who complain about the cost of tobacco products and still hand over their hard earned cash, some of them saying "That's It..No More..if the price gets to X,then I'm gonna Quit!"
Have You experienced this, said this,or are still holding out for yet another increase before it's your last straw?

It's a bit like Drivers and fuel for their cars...every budget,(Along with the Smokers!)We're fair game for another increase..as most don't have a viable alternative means of transport, they'll suck up the increase, complain about it,and keep on going..

I am not a smoker, but one of my sons and his wife are. I have heard them make the statement many times if the price of ciggys keep going up they are going to quit. Well, evidentially it hasn't gotten to high yet. They are still smoking. I keep reminding them to look at my son's Nana. She has COPD, emphazyma, bronchitis, etc all because she smokes. She gets coughing spells that you think she is going to just pass out and die. They still keep smoking. I am hoping and praying that some day they will give that nasty habit up.

They're still holding out for a good reason to quit, and so far it looks like that's neither the financial cost nor the evidence from a more advanced smoker...

Apparently some smoke as a means of stress relief...I've managed to keep work related stress levels low enough that I haven't needed (yet) to start smoking to control it! It is interestingly paradoxical that those who would know best about the treatment and the risks associated with smoking also do it...
