What and where?

I am fast approaching what is a big birthday for me and to celebrate I was going to go to DisneyLand Paris with my mother and kids. Then I realised that to renew all the pastports, accommodation and transportation there, was going to be a bit on the pricey side so I am now thinking about something I can keep forever. A tattoo. The only problem is now is that I have no clue what to have or where to have it. I know I want something that will represent my kids, even have their names done and I want it somewhere where I can see it (not necessarily where anyone else can haha). For me I wouldn't want a tattoo somewhere I can't see it, I don't see the point, I mean I am not going to go through the pain of having one and pay out that money not to be able to appreciate it!! I am also a complete wuss so I need something relatively small and a place that isn't too painful haha
Does anyone out there have any ideas? Do you have any tattoos? What do you have and where? Do your tattoos have any significant meaning?

there are so many to chose from i guess it is worth taking time about.. i have no tatooes but pondering having a little wren, as it is a small bird and represents a time of my service and also although it is small it is a tough little critter as in a survivor..,
it made me smile that you want your chilrens names., lets hope they are su, bob, sam., ha ha rather than charlotte alexander etc if you get my point....
i think choosing something that relates to you all like a snow drop, or a part of a family crest,
i think it is a great fun idea and hop you will tell us what you decide
best wishes

Hi ya artizan
Well I have until March to decide but I am fully aware how quick time passes and don't want to make any quick decisions that I may regret. I was thinking of having some like small footprints or a star representing each child. Yes my kids have relatively short names, apart from one, and I have three kids so it won't be too bad I don't think. A ten minute tattoo would do me just fine haha
Thanks for your response

A tattoo Humbug. Like that thing they have in Edinburgh? The skirl of the pipes, exotic dance troupes and driving rain? My my- when will the tickets go on sale, I shall come. I've never had a tattoo. Don't see the point. If I was meant to have pictures all over my skin, expose myself to dermatological diseases and look slightly sad and pathetic when I'm old then I'd have had one done years ago. But each to our own......

HI Humbug, I have made a tattoo last year my first one and I don't know if it is going to be the last one or not. It is in my upper right thigh and it can be hidden under a shorts. I wanted it that way cos of my job. I would not like everybody to see it. Its something that I consider private. My parents don't approve of tattoos and people in my society still shun those who have them. So I preferred to keep it hidden, until I wear a short swimsuit. My tattoo is a yellow rose with a scroll that a friend of mine has designed for me and it bears the name of my son written in the scroll.
When you are going to make a tattoo you must bear in mind that it is going to be something permanent on you. One has to consider certain things whether it is going to affect his / her career later on in life.
First of all I would suggest you to visit tattoo saloon website, see the artwork of various artists. You can have a vague idea of what you really want. I would keep copies of pictures / designs that you really like and discuss it with the tattoo artist. I would suggest you selecting a really good one and not the first one that you find round the corner. I would see his /her artwork first and see if I really like his style or not.
You can discuss whatever design you want with the tattoo artist and then you can move on from there.I hope that you enjoy your tattoo for many years to come.

Hi ronaldinu and thank you for bringing me back to mylot!
I have contimplated getting a tattoo for a very long time to be honest but have never seen something that I want and would be happy to have on my body for the rest of my life. I will do as you suggest and take some more time and do some research
on tattooists.
Many thanks for your response and your tatt sounds really cool, I would love to have one on the top of my thigh but I don't have the guts haha
Cheers

hi Humbug I have no tattoos nor do I intend to get one but
I would think maybe a small rose with your kids names on
it maybe on the upper arm or shoulder where you could see by
looking in a mirror. I really am no expert on tattoo wearing
myself.

Hi ya Hatters
Thanks for the idea but like I said me being a total wuss I think that a rose would still even be too big for me haha I want something delicate and ladylike tho too so maybe a flower of some sort is going to be the way of things.
Thanks for responding

Oh wow that sounds like so much fun, my birthdays very close too, could you please take me with you lol I've always wanted to go to Disneyland, my birthdays are always so boring.
As for tattoos I dont have any but I want one really bad but my mom is old fashioned and even though I'm all grown she would still flip if I actually got one and I'm afraid of the pain, but if I ever get the guts to get one I would get somthing small cute and meaningful.
By the way happy birthday.
