I have two cats, a male and a female, both of which are about 5-6 years old now. I found the male first, abandoned in an alley in the city, and rescued the female from a "last resort" shelter. They have been living together for almost 4 years now, and still bicker and fight eachother. There has only been blood spilled once or twice, and only from scratches. I just wish that my cats could love eachother as much as I love them. Is there anyone here on MyLot that has any helpful advice as to how to bring these two together?

In my experience cats either like each other or they don't. I have neer been able to change this even though several of my cats lived together for years. All would be quite and then out of no where a cat fight would evolve. Usually these were loud but didn't do much damage. However we were always quick to examine for scratches and bites since they easily become infected. I think it's just one of the things that comes with living with cats.

Cats are abit like us,we either like someone or we dont,if we do not want anything todo with a person then we will avoid people.I find that my cats will tolerate each other no matter what, there is also what i call the boss of the house, which is one of my older cats.I am sorry to say that you can not make them be friends.

I've had blood drawn from cat's playing rough - I wouldn't worry too much about it, some cats are just alphas and they can barely stand to live with another alpha cat
I have a load of cats and, needless to say, I have more than one alpha cat, they sometimes go after another alpha, but on the whole they just do their best to ignore each other
