Bill Clinton denies White House claim that he asked Sestak to drop out of race!

I'm sure by now everyone has heard about how Obama tried to bribe Rep Joe Sestak with a federal job to drop out of the PA Senate primaries against Arlen Specter. After months of trying to come up with a plausible lie that might not admit criminal activity, they claimed that Bill Clinton was the one who asked Sestak to drop out of the race in exchange for some unpaid advisory board position which would have been impossible for him to have while still in congress.
Well now Bill Clinton is denying that conversation ever took place!
"Clinton made the denials three times as he responded Tuesday to a reporter asking him why he is campaigning for Sestak, who defeated Specter in the May primary, if he tried to get him to drop out of the race.
"I wasn't," Clinton said while he was in a scrum of people trying to get his autograph. "I didn't try to get him out of the race."
Clinton repeated his assertion when asked whether he talked to Sestak to aid Specter. He denied it again when the reporter asked, "You did not?"
"In fact, I wasn't even accused of that." Clinton added."

With all the lies surrounding this, and clearly SOMEONE is lying, should congress be investigating this and renewing calls for an independent investigator to be appointed?

Remember this old poser: How to tell if a politician is lying? ...His lips are moving.

An independent investigator should absolutely be appointed. Just the accusation of a crime is usually enough to start an investigation. Someone broke the law. Although, can't say I am surprised that Bill Clinton got the blame on this one. Politically, he was the best one to blame with a sufficient enough distance from the White House to divert attention from whoever really made the offer. I just don't think Bill Clinton would get involved with something like that. He and his wife know how to play political games very well and this is just beyond stupid.

Please...Bill has done some really stupid things before now...like lying in a court of law...to the american public...oh not to mention cheating on his wife when he KNEW someone would find out...the white house is a fish bowl..you have NO privacy...that alone was stupid.
He has done a lot of stupid things. Hilary is the smart one of the two.

I didn't say he was smart about life. I just said he was politically smart. But you are right, Hillary is the smarter of the two.

I think they brought Bill into this since he is not technically an employee. That way if their actions were found to be criminal, they figured they could brush off anything as "well he doesn't speak for us so we're not responsible for his actions."
The simple fact is they chose the wrong guy. They would have been better off choosing someone who's a little better at keeping his lies in order or at least someone who wouldn't be in front of cameras several months later when it's a little tougher to remember the specifics of the lie.

I believe it. After the whole "Monica Scandal", Clinton will lie about anything if told to by his people. I thought that he was a good president, but like any politician and any other president, they can and do lie. I am sure that Clinton and Obama told Arlen Specter to drop out of the PA Senate Primaries, and it wouldn't shock me if they did.

Just to clarify, it wasn't Specter they asked to drop out, it was his opponent Joe Sestak. I don't think it's a question of whether they asked him to drop out, but rather what level of federal job they tried to bribe him with, and how exactly that bribe was communicated that's in question.
The story that the Obama administration cooked up was that, through Bill Clinton, they offered Sestak an unpaid advisory position that he could hold while retaining his job in congress (even though in reality he would not be able to stay in congress with the job they described). Sestak then agreed with their story even though he initially had claimed he was offered a "high level" position in the Obama administration. Unpaid advisers are not typically called "high level".

Yes, this issue should be thoroughly investigated with the guilty parties thoroughly incarcerated.
Anything Clinton says must be treated with suspicion as he is a convicted liar. He was found guilty of perjury and was disbarred as a result.

Oh this is going to be good....Sestak said he was offered a "bribe" to drop out...the white house said it was Clinton...now Clinton says not only did he not do it...but that the white house never accused him of it.
Can you say a BAD cover up. People forgot to get their stories straight before talking to the press.
This really does need to be investigated. Someone or some ones are lying. We need to know who. And we need to know if the bribe really happened...because that is SOOOO illegal.

The thing that gets me is that they literally had MONTHS to come up with a lie to protect them and that was the best they could do? Seriously, they could have hired me and I probably would have thought of something better inside of a week. Not to mention the fact that they should have known better than to drag Bill into this. I mean, we're talking about the guy who tried to redefine the meaning of the word "is".

Well considering this concerns Clinton I will assume some of what he says is lies as with him there is usually something to lie about. Now if it was a passing comment or something more substantial who knows but them. Personal both Sestak and Arlin are bad for PA and the nation in my opinion. Every time either of them speaks the nausea in my stomach explodes with warnings that something isn't right. They are both snakes as is Clinton and yes there should be an investigation, I would say that more would come up then just this issue to boot.

The problem is that this involves people with a record of lying. Now Specter really isn't a part of this as he's never been implicated in anything. While I disagree with him on many things politically, I consider him honest and there is no reason for me to believe he's had anything to do with this.
Obama and Clinton both have records of lying, Sestak does not, although he has agreed with Obama's story which doesn't match what he originally said and is now being disputed by Clinton. Clearly SOMEONE is lying and as this involves a serious federal crime, it needs to be properly investigated.

Dang! I was gonna start this discussion, but you beat me to it.
When I first heard this, I said to myself, "UH OH". While I am not one to believe Willy, this has pitted the word of liberal hero Clinton against liberal deity Obama. What will they do?
Honestly, I think Clinton is fed up with Obama (the Prez wasn't invited to Chelsea's wedding) and this may be somewhat of a political move by him to downgrade Obama (Hillary presidential run?).
Honestly, this may be some of the best news I've heard in a long time. To answer your question, YES an independent investigator needs to be appointed. We all know what the intent was behind Sestak and Romanov, and we all know that it's illegal (even though some would try to argue that). It's just a matter of proving it.
