Say it aint so? I heard that the coach did a press conference saying Becks was out.And That's how David found out! Wow! He didn't even call to tell he was let go! Is beck's career in England really over?

I think everyone knew that Beck's career was over when he got injured before the world cup. Fabio did call him up to be on the bench at South Africa. The problem with Capello is that his comfort with English communication is limited. So what he meant to say was Becks will have trouble because of his advanced age and what he went on to say was that Becks is too old to play for England. This is what I call lost in translation. But hey!! Becks had a good career, but the fact is now he is too old to play more than 30 minutes at the highest level!! Cheers! Ram

Thanks friend! I knew you would know exactly what was going on. I truly treasure your knowledge and you p[atience with me. Football/soccer is new to me in a way. This is th first time I am trying to follow the regular leagues. Not just the World Cup. Thanks for answering all my silly questions Cheers!

First off, I think Beck's career in England, or Europe for that matter was long over when he moved to the MLS. But that's not a slight against the MLS because I'm sure I'm going to love this league in a few years from now. I never heard this news, but reading ram_cv's response and the little I've heard about the team, I think I agree that this was just lost in translation.

sarahruthbeth22, Really high handed indeed! This is very bad and I am pointing my finger at coach Fabio and the English FA for this worst letdown in English soccer. I felt that David Beckham does not deserve such a insensible act of being dropped from international soccer. The least coach Fabio could do was to speak to David Beckham first before announcing his decision to the press. Or, assess his game performance before making such a decision. I mean this is a national hero and England's homegrown who had put and contributed so much for England. Noticeably, his recent chef-de-mission for the recent FIFA World Cup tournament in South Africa, where he could actually be enjoying his time with his family or a spectator in the stands. Now, the coach is getting payback with Beckham rejecting in his face, his invitation to appear in a farewell friendly to mark his end of his playing career. I do not think any national coach would do such a thing to any player especially a player of such high caliber. If I am not wrong, Roger Milla from Cameroon was actually playing at the age of 42 when he represented his country in the 15th FIFA World Cup Tournament in 1994 held in USA. Age should not be a deciding factor and I hope coach Fabio would reconsider his decision. I guess so..that his illustrious career is over for England. I felt that when he could not play for England at the world cups (that was albeit due to injury)..but I feared at that time that his career is over..and it has come true..we wont see him in english colours again...what a way to end his career.
