What is an "eternal perspective"? It's the opposite of living for today. In fact, having an eternal perspective means that you focus on more that just your own comforts and desires.Instead, you focus on forever.
It's really easy to focus on ourselves. We get caught up in the stuff we think we wanted and need, but we forget about investing in eternity. Life on earth is short. If all you do is live for today and for yourself, it won't mean a thing once you die. That's what Psalms 49 is driving at. If you invest all your time and efforts into getting stuff for yourself, you'll lose it all as soon as you breathe your dying breath (Psalms 49:17).
If you have an eternal perspective, you'll be thinking about things that last--stuff that really matters. Your soul lasts forever, so once you die, you'll either be in heaven with God or in hell. The things you do on earth to bring God glory will last forever. Investing your time and energy into helping the church grow and serving others will last forever.
If you want your life to matter, you need eternal perspective. Keep your mind focused on the things that God cares about. Don't waste your life chasing wealth, pleasure, and success because when you die, all those things till blow away like dust. Instead, follow God with all your heart. That's when your life and your accomplishments will really mean something... they'll last for eternity!
(insights from Psalms 45-49)
--I just like to share this thought, i got this from the notes in my devotional Bible hope it'll touch your hearts. God bless (",)

I think and feel that the topic is truly very relevant in these days of man-made confusions brought by social pressure, commercialism and politics.
It seems to be intended that having a good eternal perspective will not come by easily to many people...
What do you think?
