Blocked sites in colleegs and schools!

Hey friends
I am in college right now and its server is managing all the computers. Now the problem with most colleges is that they are blocking many social networking websites and many other websites. They think they can keep us away from being who we are.
Before there were a few proxies that could have opened such sites but right now most of them are blocked and i was wondering if any other colleges or schools had the same problem.
What do you do in such situations??

The colleges and universities does so in order to keep the internet bill within certain limit. Actually, majority of the people using social networking sites are students of colleges and universities. Though we pay a quite large amount during admission as fees, only a little contribution goes towards that internet bill. That's why the blocking of some sites.

There is nothing to do except accepting that but the IT geeks can made some way to access to the social networking sites even the sites which are strictly prohibited and also the sites which are for downloading. Even you cannot download several KB files from anywhere. They are doing these because why would they let us get benefit. But they also want us to concentrate on studies rather than busy with networking in the school and colleges. In my last college we can access to many sites like orkut, facebook and so on, but never tried myLot there. But they could not allow us to access the sites which contains adult contents and even downloading links like www.download.com and other popular downloading sites, even they will prohibit you to download some small files like software and other stuffs.

This happen in most of the company as well, many company tend to block all the famous social network like facebook, myspace and other to prevent their workers to surf those network during working hour. According to research, companies loses billion of dollars just because of their workers keep surfing and not working during their working hour. But even those social network being blocked, there are still many way you can have access to these site. You can get in by going through some of the site that allow you to connect to those social network by logging into their website. And to do that, you will need to pay them for certain amount of $ in order to get the access..Just search around and you will find some out there...

i agree with u'r problem bro..
This is prevalent in many colleges,they tend to block the social networking sites so that they can restrict the students atleast in the college,as they cannot do in ther home...
