If you think that only those with higher numbers are gaining responses (which is not the case at all) then go and take a look at their topics and see what they are doing to gain attention.
I went to your profile and see your started topics. They are not discussions because you do not go back and comment and further the topic with those who respond.
We earn here when we are discussing, ot just for posting topics (questions) or responses and when users notice that you do not get involved in your discussions and that they do not have the opportunity to discuss they move on to other topics.
Starting is one thing. Making it into a discussion, which is what causes earnings, is something else which you will learn if you look at those discussions that you feel are doing better than yours.
Don't lose heart. Just be prepared to learn and you will get it right too

MysD, I hate to disagree with you, because it seems you are always right. But this time I don't think this is the true. At least not for for me. Am I wrong, maybe?
I comment on a discussion no matter who started it. I don't make investigations on how that user furthers the discussions (or not!). It is true I don't like when my comments remain without a response, especially when I like the topic and I want the discussion to go on. But there are so many users, I can't remember any of them who didn't comment back my responses. Should I keep a list?

Mine is an opinion and therefore it is neither right or wrong
I too respond wherever I see something interesting, regardless of who started it but after several occasions of 'talking to myself' because certain users never come back to discuss, I do tend to avoid their future topics.
Whether you want to keep a list or not is entirely up to you Each one of us uses mylot in the way that they find works best for them. I repeat, mine is an opinion and you don't have to agree with it - I shall still speak to you

I have to admit that I do get rather annoyed when you don't get a response where the original pposter has asked a question, apart from anything else surely it is pure manners if someone's answered your question to reply.
But it is only once we get responses back to our respnses that a real discussion is started.

Hi sinaj,
I don't know where this idea came from.
I don't think the numer of comments on an article has anything to do with the starter's rating. As a new user, I had some discussions with more than 15 comments, nobody worried about my rating. And it was under 50 that time. But also it happened to me to start discussions that ended up with only one or two comments. This means I didn't choose an interesting topic, and only few users were insterested in it.
Why do you worry about the number of comments on your discussions, anyway?

The reason that some users are concerned about the number of responses that their topics receive can be due to several reasons (and I hope this user will come back and answer your query).
Some think that they earn for the responses that others post. This is completely and absolutely wrong because we only earn for what we post. Those who post the responses earn for them but we can earn by going and commenting on them and that is the reason that many of us, myself included, hope to receive responses so that we can spend our time commenting to further the topic - which is what myLot is all about after all

I use this kind of querry in order to further the discussion, that's why we're here, right? But I'm afraid too many questions like this remained without an answer. I don't know why I have this feeling that I won't get an answer from this discussion's starter. Yet, I hope I'm wrong, this time.

Not fair? You are inferring that other myLotters, especially those who have been here for a long time and actively participating to be snobbish. Now that is not fair.
Interesting discussion? That is a matter of perception. What is interesting to one person may be dull to others.
Bear in mind that there are many discussions posted in a day. It is simply not possible to respond to every new discussion, so there are bound to be discussions missed especially when there is a flurry of posts.
I too had discussions with no response but I did not make a hue and cry over it. People have different interests, experiences, views, and priorities. We simply cannot force others to bow down to our wishes.
Heed the advice or suggestions given by the responders before me.
By the way I never look at the number next to the user name. A few hours ago I responded to a discussion of a member with zero rating. The person has not commented back.

All of us were where you are now but have made good progress. You too will. Just go on responding to topics that others have raised and put your comments on responses given by others to topics that do not belong to you if you have not received any responses to your topic. This approach will give you enough activity and more activity means more points and more earnings.

I don't think a person's rating makes any difference, it certainly doesn't to me.
I look at the discussiona dn don't even notice the person's ratings most of the time.
I respond to discussions that I find interesting or cover a topic that intersts me.
I tend not to answer political or religious discussions, I hardly ever respond to 'making money' type discussions and try my best to avoid discussioins that I think will be deleted - like ppoll type discussions.
To get more responses to discussions the discussion needs to grab attention from the title and needs tobe of a subject that people will want to discuss.
I hope that this helps, and please be assured most people will respond whatever a person's rating!
Good luck

I will have to go and look at some of your other questions but I think the ones that get answered most are the ones that are easy to answer. If the question makes sense and a lot of people can answer it then they will. If a question is about something that only some people know about then you will not get as many responses because people simply don't know how to answer. For instance if you are asking a question about a book you will only have your question answered by those who have actually read that book and happened to see your discussion. So there are not going to be a lot of responses. Keep the questions simple and the responses will come.

Hi sinaj,
I presume that rating has something to do with how mylotters respond to an article. I've been in such situation before. My early posts here got only few respondents, and it makes me wonder what's wrong..probably i thought because I'm not known yet here and not get any rate at all. But I was surprised one time when I got response more than I expect. And I came to realize that it depends on the subject of our post. If the topic is somehow attract our interest, then we will respond to it in our own accord. On my part actually, I'm not concern who the writer is, or even ignore the ratings, I'm looking for the subject title, If I feel that there's something I could share or say about the article, I'll just post it. Hope this will help. Happy mylotting.
