Most of the confidences were unsought - frequently I have feigned sleep, preoccupation, or a hostile levity when I realized by soem unmistakable sign that an intimate revelation was quivering on the horizon; for the intimate revelations of youong men, or at least the terms they express them, are usually plagiaristic.
In the above sentence, what does " confidences " mean? Secret that can't tell anyone, or to believe in /depend on someone?
BTW, it's a sentence from The Great Gatsby.
Thanks in advance^^
Susan
