Today my favorite grandson went to his first day of school. Doesn't seem possible that he's that old 'already'. My son had on facebook this morning to say a prayer for kim [my dil]. He said my grandson would be fine but he didn't know about his wife, lol. How many mama's & grandmama's needed a prayer this morn?

I felt the same way when my oldest first started school. Today I walked her to the bus stop, my big 4th grader. I think it is sometimes a harder time for the mom then the child. I know it was for me, she was excited and I was the one scared. Next year my little one will start kindergarten. She needed the prayer today. She saw her sissy get on that bus without her and her bottom lip puckered out and she started balling. I want my sissy, she missed her before we even got back home. Next year when they are both at school I wont know what to do.

each time i took one of the last 2 babies of mine to school the first day (my youngest daughter and youngest son) i cried...most of the day till i went to get them. reason being, my youngest daughter was 6 yrs after my third child and i thought she would be my last baby. then i had my son, six yrs after her, so i thought this was my last and it was. my first 3 kids were like 1 a year so i was glad to get the break. but i understand the moms pain because of what i thought was my last babies.

HI BON, Thanks for responding. I think we all know how my dil felt this morning. I thought about calling her but i assume she's at work & didn't want to bother her. My son was acting brave but i bet he was affected to not that he's ever admit it, lol. Hope u have a happy weekend.

well its true that it could leave a feel emptyness, when you see your kids grow but....with that you also start to feel the freedom you once had coming back little by little.

My DIL will also need one soon. Little Ali Lou starts school in a couple of weeks and I have already seen tears! I remember when my oldest started school. I dropped her off...helped her across the street and she headed for the door and never looked back....I however was sitting in the car crying my eyes out!

I am praying. I have said a prayer for God to watch over all our kids while they are in school. I understand how the mother of your grandson feels. Her baby going off to school and being away from mommie and home for such a long length of time. But it has to be done and it is for his own benefit. They will get used to it and in the meantime, her baby will develop a lot of skills, like friendship, dependability, education. That's life, we as parents have all been through it. Like the saying goes, "this too shall pass". All of you will be proud of the young fellow. I know it hurts us more than the children. Be blessed.

I was dreadful when my children started school.By number four began school my husband insisted that I was not to drop her off and that he would do it. she never gave any trouble. I had a boy who cried every day for a year. Yes a year. Do you know what this did to me? I was a total wreck even though the teacher toldme he stopped as soon as I left the classroom. I always am, in need of prayer

Hi Cynthi, I think all good moms are like that. Oh my, for a year. I know that was horrible, bless your heart. I haven't talked to t.j. or kim today, hope ryan didn't cry. Kim will be to bury if he did, lol. We are all always in need of prayers. Thanks for responding. hugs.

My daughter and the two granddaughters left Minnesota yesterday a. m. for a trip to OKC. by way of Nebraska and Kansas. This grandma needs prayers for them. At the end of this month the oldest one starts preschool. She is bright as a whip but a chatterbox and pretty set in her ways. Needs to learn how to be with other kids. I am sure they will all need prayers then. They do grow up quickly.

Seems counterproductive to have kids in school when they'd rather be out swimming... but I guess kids these days don't play outside much anymore and schools are air-conditioned.

He must be so excited to be attending school now. I am sure your grandson is full of excitement attending to his first day at school. But where is his mother? I hope she is well. I think most of us pray everyday as food for our soul, and also pray for others who needed our prayers.

Hi ANTIQUELADY Well I guess in the UK we still have it to got through as my kids don't go back to school after the summer hols until the 2nd September and others in the country go back the week after that. I have done it three times now and it didn't get any easier, I am of course fine now and am enjoying some time to myself and some time to get things done!!

Our schools didn't use to start till after our labor day but they changed it for some reason. I'm sure it gets easier after the first one starts. my boys were 20 years apart so it was hard for me both times. It didn't seem to bother them & i was glad. I'm also very proud of my grandson for being such a big boy. Thanks for responding.

Hello my old friend!!!! You grandson is in school already? Time does fly. I remember when my oldest son first went to school. I was more nervous than he was. My little baby was old enough to go to school and would meet new friends. It seems like just yesterday, however, now he is an adult and recently started his first "grown up" job. Make sure to tell us all about your grandson's first day.

I am hoping to be on here more frequently from now on. I just don't seem to be able to fit "mylot" into my schedule these days no matter how hard I try. Lately the only time I have had was in the middle of the night, when my eyes are too tired to read.

I haven't experienced it yet but I guess it is quite exciting sending your kid's son or daughter to school. Perhaps I will be more happier than his or her mom. And of course, my prayers will be nonstop, I guess.

I can relate! When my daughter was four years old she started kindergarten and she was so excited at the idea of going! We live across the road from the school and since she was two years old she had wanted to go there and play with the children. On that first day she was jumping out of her skin with excitement and I was so nervous! We arrived at her class and after she settled in she said to me, “Mummy you have to go now, okay?” Here I was holding back the tears at the prospect of leaving her and she was asking me to go! I did leave and shed a couple of tears as I walked away although I was glad that she was so keen...What a milestone the first day of her school life...Huge!
